Prince William’s birthday message for Mary Berry was nothing short of sweet.
The Prince of Wales, 42, celebrated the former Great British Bake Off judge’s milestone 90th birthday during BBC’s The One Show: Dame Mary Berry, A Celebration at 90 special on Monday, March 24. “No!” Berry excitedly exclaimed as the host introduced the clip.
“Hi, Mary! I want to wish you a very happy 90th birthday. You are a true national treasure and we’ve loved working with you over the years. Have a fantastic day today,” William said in his video message before joking, “I dread to think who’s cooking your cake and the criticism they might get, but good luck and I hope it goes really well.”
William’s kind words brought Berry to tears. “What an honor,” she said in reaction to the clip.

William and Berry have shared several interactions over the years. Most notably, both he and his wife, Princess Kate Middleton, appeared alongside the TV personality in her 2019 BBC holiday special, A Berry Royal Christmas. The special saw Berry work with the royal couple to create festive recipes for a Christmas party held in honor of charity staff and volunteers.
“Does William ever cook for you?” Berry asked Kate, 43, as they competed in a baking challenge against William and former Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain. “He sometimes does, actually,” Kate replied. “He’s very good at breakfast. In our university days, he used to cook all sorts of meals. I think that’s when he was trying to impress me, Mary.”

William praised Berry’s baking expertise while showing off his own skills during a visit to Wales last month. “Mary Berry taught me everything I need to know,” he quipped while rolling out dough at The Welsh Cake Shop, per GB News.
William likely puts his cooking and baking skills to use at home with Kate and their three children — Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 — at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Home Park. The family of five moved out of London to the cottage in 2022, a decision Kate opened up about earlier this month.

I think it’s great. But I’ve talked to him about it or tried to talk to him about it. He’s like, ‘It’s here. I have a beard. No further conversation.”
Knauf went on to joke, “If she didn’t like it, it wouldn’t be there. I could tell you that!”
