Meghan Markle’s recent appearance on Jamie Kern Lima’s podcast has been raising some eyebrows when it comes to her and Prince Harry‘s royal titles.
Kern Lima, 47, revealed during the Monday, April 28, episode of her eponymous podcast that she previously received a gift basket from Meghan, 43, that included a personalized message
“With Compliments of HRH [Her Royal Highness] The Duchess of Sussex,” the card read, according to the episode. Us Weekly understands that the gift, which also included homemade strawberry sauce and ice cream, was sent more than a year ago.
The HRH title is one that Meghan (and her husband, the Duke of Sussex) have retained despite their 2020 departure from the royal family, Us can confirm, but they do not use them for commercial purposes.

Questions about Meghan’s name have continued to rise since her Netflix docuseries With Love, Meghan, which premiered last month.
During an episode of the show featuring friend Mindy Kailing, the actress kept referring to Meghan as “Markle,” and was quickly corrected.
“It’s so funny you keep saying Markle,” Meghan explained. “You know it’s Sussex now. You have kids and you go, I share my name with my children. I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me, but it just means so much to go, this is our family name. Our little family now.”
Meghan doubled down on the use of Sussex several times following the Netflix show’s premiere. She was introduced as “Meghan Sussex” during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show and discussed the name change during an interview with People.
“It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognized how meaningful that would be to me until we had children,” she said of the Sussex moniker. “I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me.”

Meghan further referred to the Sussex name as “part of our love story.”
Royal historian and expert Marlene Koenig weighed in on the Sussex name to Us Weekly exclusively.
“The one thing that they should have done is agree to not use the titles in business,” Koenig stated. “There’s nothing wrong with them doing that, but who are they representing is the question. They’re not representing the sovereign.”
Koenig added: “There is some criticism for that, and it’s something that should have been carefully thought out.”
