Playing longtime best friends in their latest film didn’t feel like acting for Anna Camp and Rebel Wilson.

The pair, who reunite in the new action-comedy Bride Hard, say working together again over a decade after Pitch Perfect has been nothing but fun. “Anna’s like the funnest person, on set as well as off set. She’s always up for having a fun time,” Wilson, 45 tells PEOPLE. Camp, 42, adds, “And Rebel is always very collaborative that’s why I love working with her. She’s super funny, super talented, but also just very inclusive.”

Their friendship dates back to the first Pitch Perfect movie in 2012. “We were in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and on the very first day of acappella boot camp, we went out to dinner together. We obviously clicked,” Wilson recalls. Speaking about that steakhouse dinner — which also included costars Ben Platt and Skylar Astin — she adds with a laugh, “I had mac and cheese as my dinner, which wasn’t the healthiest choice, but then again, I was playing Fat Amy.”

Reflecting on the early days of the film franchise, Wilson says, “Pitch Perfect came out, and then it was a little bit of a slow build, but it was a huge success. Then I guess all of our lives, we all got so busy and we all went in other directions in Pitch Perfect too. It was just insane.”

Camp adds, “I feel like we’ve all kept in contact because it was such a bonding experience. We’ve always gone to people’s birthday parties or weddings or whatever it may be. So I just feel like we’ve stayed friends and gotten even closer.”

In Bride Hard, Wilson plays Sam, a secret agent who has to blend in as a maid of honor at her friend’s destination wedding. When a team of mercenaries crashes the party and takes the guests hostage, including Camp’s bride-to-be, Sam is forced into a mission unlike any before.

Though it’s been years since they last worked together, the duo says their connection has only deepened. “I just feel super lucky getting to know somebody for 14 years and you get to see them grow and change and become who they’ve always wanted to be,” Camp says of Wilson.

“And she now has a beautiful family and you just get to experience all sides of a person,” she adds of the Bridesmaids star who is married to Ramona Agruma and mother to daughter Royce, 2. “And I just feel very lucky to have known her for that long. It’s just been great.”

Wilson continues, “I think we’ve both grown so much as people. I know so much has happened in my life from when we first met on the set of Pitch Perfect. I was just somebody new to Hollywood who wanted to be in movies and now our lives and our growth as women — we’ve had these amazing careers and so much going on in our lives.”

Their fun offscreen hasn’t stopped, either. “We went to this Renaissance Fair the other day,” Wilson recalls. “We went in a limousine, had drinks on the way… I lost Anna 20 minutes in and I went back and had a nap in the limousine’s air conditioning. Anna just had fun in the 110-degree heat for two hours.”

Now that Bride Hard is opening in theaters, both women are already eyeing their next projects.“I have another movie coming out, Nuked, and A Little Prayer, which premiered at Sundance,” Camp tells PEOPLE. “I’m directing a new movie, so unfortunately my summer’s ruined,” Wilson jokes. “I’m writing and directing this movie and I love it.”

And as for working together again? Never say never.

“When Anna said she wanted to do this movie, I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s a no-brainer’ because when I’m in a scene with Anna it’s not really acting,” Wilson says. “It’s so easy to play her friend.”

Camp agrees: “Let’s do Bride Harder. Let’s keep doing movies together.”

Bride Hard is in theaters June 20.
