Rob Lowe is speaking about a near-death experience he had while attending Patrick Schwarzenegger and Abby Champion’s recent wedding.
“I literally almost got killed on a golf cart,” the actor, 61, recalled of attending the Saturday, Sept. 6 ceremony while appearing on the Tuesday, Sept. 16 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! to promote season 4 of The Floor.
“I’ll do crazy stuff, I’ll big wave surf, I’ll heli-ski, but little things scare me. Like, I’m petrified of golf carts … I’m really, really petrified of rolling a golf cart,” he said, adding that he almost rolled a golf cart while attending The White Lotus star’s wedding. “I did a full double 360,” he said.
“How fast were you going?” host Jimmy Kimmel asked.
“It was down a really steep hill and the grass was wet,” Lowe explained. “But I’ve had movies where they give you stunt driving, so I just kept the wheel like this [motioning to keep very still] like I was trained to. My friend said, ‘You looked like a statue as you were spinning.’ ”
“You didn’t stomp on the brake?” Kimmel, 57, asked Lowe, to which he responded, “No! Then you’re done. You do not want to do that.”
Kimmel then asked Lowe why he gets into golf carts when he is scared of them. “I’m just careful when I drive, but obviously not careful enough,” he said.
Lowe then shared where he thinks his fear of golf cart comes from. “I’ll tell you what it is. It’s that I feel that they’re tipsy-topsy, like, ready to roll over all the time,” he said.
Schwarzenegger, 31, and Champion, 28, tied the knot in Lake Coeur d’Alene in northern Idaho on Sept. 6. The wedding was attended by Lowe, along with Shwarzenegger’s The White Lotus costar Jason Isaacs, and his parents Arnold Schwarzenegger and mom Maria Shriver, sister Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt and her husband Chris Pratt.

Elsewhere on the show, Lowe said that he has no fear when it comes to driving regular cars.
“The fastest that I ever drove … [was] my son Matthew’s field trip,” he recalled. “…I was the volunteer driver and it was a whale-watching excursion from the harbor.”
Lowe said that he “overslept” on the day of the trip and came up with an idea of how to quickly catch up with the boat.
“I get to the harbor, the boat is pulling away and I said, ‘You know what … I’m gonna go like 100 miles an hour down the coast, pull over and swim out to the boat,’ ” he said. “… I get far enough that I think I can make it out to the boat. I swim out [in my clothes] … and then Matthew turned to the cabin and said. ‘I think my dad’s over there!’ ”
