Ron Howard is showing off a wardrobe throwback ahead of the premiere of his upcoming documentary.
In a post on Instagram on Friday, March 27, the actor and filmmaker, 72, shared a photo of his vintage USA soccer jacket — the U.S. Men's National Team's 1994 denim track jacket, from the year the World Cup was hosted by the U.S.
"Felt nostalgic, so thought I’d go vintage today," Howard shared, showing off the blue denim jacket with patriotic red and white striped sleeves, which is available from Adidas. "Anyone else remember this kit?"
The director and producer also teased the premiere of Summer of 94 — the upcoming documentary that details the journey of the 1994 U.S. team.
"Looking forward to ‘Summer of 94’ on FOX, May 23. #tbt" he added in the caption.

According to Variety, Summer of ’94, directed by Dave LaMattina and Chad Walker and produced by Howard and his producing partner Brian Grazer's Imagine Documentaries, will detail the unlikely tale of the 1994 U.S. soccer team, who were considered underdogs in the international soccer community.
Their performance at the World Cup later helped to spark interest in the sport across the country and helped to lay the foundation for Major League Soccer to launch two years later.
"Summer of ’94 tells the story of the unlikely rise of the U.S. Men’s National Team on the road to the 1994 World Cup," a synopsis reads. "With no league and the belief of one coach, a ragtag group of players documented their journey as underdogs became legends."
The documentary — which was executive produced by Howard, Grazer, Sara Bernstein and Amanda Farrand, among several others — is set to include new interviews and never-before-seen footage taken by players on personal cameras at the time of the '94 World Cup.

Those featured in the documentary include Alexi Lalas, Cobi Jones, Tony Meola, John Harkes, Marcelo Balboa and Eric Wynalda, as well as teammates Jeff Agoos, Thomas Dooley and Paul Caligiuri.
"When we started this film, we were simply fans who felt this team never got its due,” the directors told Variety in a statement. "They didn’t lift a trophy, but they changed the sport in America. What struck us most was how much they were figuring out in real time, with no league, no blueprint and no guarantees."

The documentary premieres on FOX ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will run from June 11 to July 19. Matches will be held in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, with the U.S. hosting the July 19 final at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Summer of ’94 premieres on FOX on May 23.
