Roseanne Barr Explains Why She’s Not Leaving Texas for Florida: ‘I Can’t Have That’

For Roseanne Barr, moving to Texas was a “dream come true” — even if she’s hit a few hurdles.

“I’m doing a lot of mowing. I’ve got a really fantastic tractor out here, and I’m mowing,” Barr, 72, told Fox News Digital on Tuesday, June 3. “The only problem is I don’t clear the trees quite as good as I should, and I’m always hitting a tree and knocking it over, and it always hits me in the head.”

She continued, “So, I’ve had several injuries recently. I had this one tree, I guess it was two nights ago, I knocked it and a great big old branch fell right on my head and trapped me in my tractor. So I knew I had to get out of there, and it weighed about 100 pounds.”

Barr said it took her an hour to move the tree “inch by inch” before being able to flip it over and feeling “proud” of herself.

“I was like, ‘Oh, I’m 72 years old,’ but I just said my mighty prayers that always work,” she added. “I said, ‘Come on, God, I am 72 years and I just want to be able to harness all this strong Russian energy that I know I still have in there if you’re with me.’ And I just flipped it.”

While Barr’s son Jake Pentland exclusively told Us Weekly in April that she might be eyeing a relocation to Florida, the Conners alum noted that the move isn’t in her cards.

“I love it down there. I really do, and I was considering doing it, but then there was this one day that was so damn hot,” she said. “And I [was] just like, ‘I think I’d rather burn in hell than live here in the sun.’ It was so hot. I mean, Texas is hot, too, but oh, my God. I like to go to a place where you can smoke cigarettes in the summer. I couldn’t even smoke a cigarette over there, and I can’t have that.”

Pentland, for his part, gushed to Us that Barr — who lives with his family — is “the best grandma” to his kids.

“We have 30 acres and live up in what they call ‘Hill Country,’” Pentland shared. “Roseanne also drives the tractor often, which allows her to mow the lawn. She drives around. She occasionally runs into trees, but just keeps the yard up.”

Pentland noted that Barr likes to use a chainsaw to trim the tree branches “so they don’t hit the kids” and is gardening when not taking care of the grandchildren.

“The property is very lush,” Pentland explained, “and has purple and yellow wildflowers growing all around.”
