The Eagles star is the face of a new campaign for C4 Energy

Saquon Barkley is a man of many talents.
The star Eagles running back, 29, tells PEOPLE he’s “excited to get back into the facility with the guys” for the upcoming NFL season, his ninth in the league and third in Philadelphia. “Every season has its ups and the downs and adversity, but wherever challenges come, we’ll take it on together and most importantly, we’re trying to win that championship,” Barkley says from the set of his latest spot with C4.
Although Barkley is excited about the season ahead, the 2025 Super Bowl champ — who shares two children with fiancée Anna Congdon — has enjoyed his downtime this offseason with a rotation of “three things.” “I chill with my family, I golf, and I train. I chill with my family, I golf, and I train. And I chill my family, and I golf, and I train. There’s not really much I like to do other than that,” Barkley says.

He also found time with C4 this offseason for one of his “favorite” brand shoots. “I think the creative team they hired had a unique approach and way of showing the concept, and for me, being an athlete and having to take on three different type of roles and characters, that was fun,” Barkley says.
These days, the running back is “a lot more comfortable” in front of the camera than when he entered the league in 2018 — and it’s evident in his confidence on screen. “I guess you could say I’m used to it now. I would love to do this stuff when I’m done playing football — being on TV,” he says.
Barkley’s interest in the entertainment industry also extends into the Eagles’ locker room, where he and his teammates trade reviews of what they’ve been watching. “I’m a big critic, though. If you give me advice on a movie or on a show, and it’s bad, I will not trust your advice ever again,” he jokes.
Barkley, whose favorite shows include The Vampire Diaries, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Friday Night Lights, credits his former teammate, A.J. Brown, and current teammate DeVonta Smith, as well as the Eagles’ assistant athletic trainer, Dr. Shaniece Jackson, for sharing the best recommendations.

As Barkley gets ready for another season in Philadelphia, he says he’s relying on C4 to keep his energy up. The running back’s favorite flavor is the C4 Performance Energy x Popsicle Grape because it reminds him of “a time when I was a kid and I was having a Popsicle outside at the pool with my family and friends.”
The Eagles kick off their season hosting the Washington Commanders on Sunday, Sept. 13.
