Sarah Shahi isn’t giving too much away about the forthcoming Red, White & Royal Blue sequel, but she “teased appropriately.”

The Paradise star, 45, shared during PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly‘s Red Carpet Live show at the 2025 Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 14, that fans of the first Red, White & Royal Blue have much to look forward to.

“It’s happening. It’s happening and then some,” Shahi said of a sequel to the 2023 romantic comedy.

“That’s all I can really say right now. I do want to say that the fans will be very happy with the Red White & Royal Blue 2 information that’s coming out,” she added.

While speaking with PEOPLE’s Editor at Large and Host Janine Rubenstein and Entertainment Weekly‘s Editor-in-Chief Patrick Gomez, Shahi asked if she “teased appropriately.”

“Just the tip,” she joked. “You can say that, right? I didn’t cuss. So there you go, I gave you just the tip.”

The first Red, White & Royal Blue — which stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez, alongside Shahi, Uma Thurman and others — is based on the 2019 Casey McQuiston novel and dropped on Amazon Prime Video in August 2023. It tells the love story of a British prince (Galitzine) and the son (Zakhar Perez) of the U.S. President.

Amazon MGM Studios announced in May 2024 that a sequel was indeed in the works, and will feature its stars returning in their lead roles to continue the story of their onscreen romance. Director Matthew López is returning and teamed up with McQuiston to write the screenplay.
