It’s officially all happening now that Vanderpump Rules alum Scheana Shay is releasing a memoir.
Shay, 39, announced the huge news during the Friday, January 24, episode of her “Scheananigans” podcast with a subsequent Instagram post showing off the book’s cover.
“As you all know, one chapter of my life has come to an end, and I’m ready to turn the page and tell my own story. You’ve seen one side of me on reality TV, another side through filtered social media content, but MY GOOD SIDE isn’t a highlight reel,” the reality star captioned her social media post. “It digs deep into the core of who I am — the good, the bad, the messy, along with the missteps and lessons learned along the way.”
Shay referred to her writing process as “cathartic and healing,” teasing that the book will include never-before-heard stories from her life.
“I surprised even myself with the stories that bled out onto these pages,” she continued. “Details of my life that I’ve never shared, not even with some of my most inner circle. Until now. The rose-colored glasses are off, and this is me at my most authentic. To all of you who have been right there with me every step of the way, and even to those who haven’t, I can’t wait to show you every side of me.”

Vanderpump Rules stars Scheana Shay and Katie Maloney‘s relationship is … complicated. Shay and Maloney met in 2013 when they joined the original cast of the Bravo reality series. While the friends dealt with ups and downs throughout their relationship, things took a turn for the worse when Maloney and ex-husband Tom Schwartz called it […]
My Good Side is set to be released on July 22, 2025, and covers Shay’s time in the spotlight since she rose to stardom for starring on Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules.
“An intimate memoir from Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay, delving into everything from the origin story of the iconic show, to her struggles with fertility and pregnancy loss, and all the hilarious and heart-wrenching moments that were left on the cutting room floor,” the book description reads. “Before 11 seasons of record-breaking TV, two Emmy nominations, and a chart-topping podcast, ‘Scheananigans,’ Scheana thought signing on to the Real Housewives‘ spinoff show, Vanderpump Rules, was a stepping stone to reaching her ultimate goal of becoming a successful actress in Hollywood.”
Shay’s journey to reality TV is documented from her perspective.
“After appearing on shows like 90210, Jonas, and Victorious, Vanderpump Rules would be a piece of cake. But from the very first season, Scheana clashed with her fellow cast members,” the synopsis continues. “Barbs were thrown, friendships dissolved, and Scheana was left in the rubble trying to navigate the complexities of having her life and relationships filmed for a television audience. On camera, she got used to being called every name in the book, from homewrecking whore to a pick-me and bad friend. But off camera, there’s always been a different side of Scheana, pieces of her that didn’t make it into the final edit of tidy, 40-minute television episodes.”
My Good Side will allow Shay to pull back “the layers of who she really is.”
“[She] shares all sides of her — the good, bad, and messy — bringing readers on a wild nostalgia trip through the early days of Vanderpump Rules, while recounting jaw-dropping stories from her Hollywood black book, including setting the record straight on her relationship with Eddie Cibrian,” the description teased. “She reveals how her outlook on love has evolved and led her to a daughter she was told she may never have. From being bullied as a kid to being bullied by the Witches of WeHo, Scheana has seen it all, and together she and her fans can laugh, cry, and reminisce on all the drama, heartbreak, and celebrations over the years.”

Several Vanderpump Rules stars have stepped away from the Bravo series over the years. Bravo viewers were introduced to Shay when the backdoor pilot for Vanderpump Rules centered around Shay trying to make amends with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Brandi Glanville for her affair with Cibrian, 51. Shay went on to become one of the leads of Vanderpump Rules for over a decade before the show was recast.
Shay isn’t the only Vanderpump Rules alum to venture into writing a memoir. Stassi Schroeder released her first book, Next Level Basic, in 2019. After her exit from Vanderpump Rules in 2020, Schroeder, 36, authored a second book titled Off With My Head and more recently wrote You Can’t Have It All: The Basic B*tch Guide to Taking the Pressure Off.
There’s also Lala Kent and her book, Give Them Lala, while Kristen Doute authored He’s Making You Crazy: How to Get the Guy, Get Even, and Get Over It.
