After winning his second consecutive Memorial Tournament, Scottie Scheffler had a sentimental — and potentially smelly — celebration.
Scheffler, 28, took home the Memorial title at the Muirfield Village Country Club in Dublin, Ohio, on Sunday, June 1, joining Tiger Woods as the only back-to-back champions in the event’s history.
In the euphoric aftermath, Scheffer’s wife, Meredith, and the couple’s 13-month-old son, Bennett, joined him near the 18th green.
When Meredith handed over Bennett to her husband, she noted, “Um, he has poop all over his back.”

“That’ll happen,” Scheffler said while holding Bennett, who had an obvious stain on the back of his onesie.
During an interview after his tournament win, Scottie was asked by CBS Sports’ Amanda Balionis about the support that Meredith provides for their family.
“You’re really trying to make me emotional now,” Scottie said with a laugh and as he held Bennett in his arms. “My wife is my biggest supporter. She’s my best friend. This is our life out here on the road. It’s a lot of fun. We’ve had some special memories at this tournament.”
Scottie paused and added, “Definitely couldn’t do it without her.”
As for the tournament itself, Scottie emerged victorious with a final round 70, finishing at -10 for the weekend and four shots ahead of Ben Griffin, who finished alone in second place.
“It’s always a hard week this week,” Scottie said. “It’s so challenging to play this tournament. Battled really hard over the weekend. Ben made things interesting there down the stretch. Overall it was a great week.”
Scottie took home $4 million for winning the tournament, his 16th career PGA Tour victory.
After meeting as students at Highland Park High School near Dallas, Scottie and Meredith got married in December 2020.
The couple announced Bennett’s arrival in May 2024.
“Welcome to the world little one,” Scottie shared via Instagram. “Your mom & dad love you so much.”

Since his birth, Bennett has been a fixture at many of his dad’s golf tournaments. Shortly after his first birthday, Bennett was on hand to see Scottie win the 2025 PGA Championship in May.
“This week was unforgettable!” Scottie shared via Instagram alongside a carousel of photos showcasing his victory. “All glory to God.”
Months after Bennett’s birth, Scottie explained how his son had helped him with the mental aspects of his golf game.
“Golf can be tough and we can all be our own harshest critic,” Scottie said on the “Pardon My Take” podcast in September 2024. “When it comes to how I’m performing on the golf course, sometimes when I get off the course, after a tough day, I’ll kind of look at myself and be like, ‘If this was Bennett what would I tell him after the day?’ Part of that has been really helpful.”
