Seal Reveals the Comfort Food That He Considers to be His ‘Kryptonite’ (Exclusive)

Seal doesn’t feel guilty about any of his culinary favorites.

“I don’t care if anyone’s watching or not. I like popcorn,” Seal, 62, exclusively reveals in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “I have a soft spot for popcorn. In fact, it’s really bad. It’s, kind of, my kryptonite.”

He added, “I had popcorn for breakfast before we left to come to New York and I was supposed to be fasting, but that’s a longer conversation.”

The “Kiss From a Rose” singer is a big foodie though seldom makes dishes himself.

“Well, I don’t cook very often, but a dinner curry, I guess, [would be a standout],” Seal says. “I’m English, so we are good at curries. I like a good curry [and] I can cook a decent curry.”

When Seal does also cook for his children — he shares four kids with ex-wife Heidi Klum — he’s not pulling from a specific recipe book.

“I don’t really ever go to that. We’re from the hood. We have those in London, too,” he quips to Us. “So, hood rules apply and hood food in desperate situations. So, I guess it would be a grilled cheese sandwich.”

Given his taste for simple dishes, it’s also not surprising that he would request something basic for his “last meal on Earth.”

“Baked beans on toast,” Seal says of the British staple, stressing the importance of certain ingredients. “[A] real cheese toast and, like, the most unhealthy bread you could think of. [Put] baked beans on top of that and I’d be happy.”

To quench his thirst, Seal has lately been obsessed with Mountain Dew’s Baja Blast. (In case you forgot, the musician played his namesake aquatic creature in a 2025 Super Bowl commercial for the soda brand that dropped earlier this month.)

Prepare to see Seal like never before — as an actual seal. The English singer, whose real name is Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel, transformed into the marine mammal for Mountain Dew’s new commercial, set to air during Super Bowl LIX. “Well, it’s not as sweet as you’d think it would be,” he notes of the beverage. “I like the fact that it’s popular and it’s kind of easy to have a good time [and] it’s easy to drink, It’s fun and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

While Seal has plenty of go-to preferences, there’s one enduring item that he’ll always pass on sampling.

“I really, really didn’t like marzipan [as a child],” he recalls. “It’s that yellow stuff under [the] icing of cakes, it’s disgusting. It is an almond derivative. I never liked marzipan — and I still don’t like marzipan, but I’ll tell you one thing I didn’t like as a kid that I like now is Turkish Delight.”
