Bridget Jones is back!
The iconic franchise first premiered in 2001 with Bridget Jones’s Diary, which starred Renée Zellweger as the chainsmoking British “singleton” who must choose between her two love interests Hugh Grant and Colin Firth. In the nearly 25 years since, the subsequent sequels have followed our heroine as she has a baby, deals with grief, and more. Now the fourth installment, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, is set to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day.
Though Grant was missing from the third film, Bridget Jones’s Baby, he’s back again as Daniel Cleaver, reprising the roguish role two decades later. Ahead of the movie’s Feb. 14 premiere, here’s a look back at the star-studded cast over the years dating back to the very first premiere!
Introducing Bridget and Daniel
At the New York premiere for the franchise’s first film back in 2001, Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant looked like the rom-com royalty that they are.
Stuck in the Middle
And when it was time to bring the team across the pond to premiere the film in London, Colin Firth (who plays Jones’ more buttoned-up potential boyfriend, Mark Darcy) joined Grant to pose alongside their leading lady.
It’s Sequel Time
In 2004, the team was back together again to celebrate the Paris premiere of Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (which follows Bridget Jones as she once again has relationship complications with both Mark Darcy and Daniel Cleaver and ends with a proposal). Here, Zellweger and Grant pose with director Beeban Kidron (left) and Helen Fielding, who created the character of Bridget Jones.
The Four That Started it All
At the U.K. premiere, Zellweger — who wore a red and gold strapless dress — posed with Grant, Firth and Fielding.
Cozy Up
And just like at the first film’s premiere, Zellweger and Grant shared some sweet moments on the carpet.
Solo Shot
At the 2016 New York premiere of Bridget Jones’s Baby (which sees Bridget Jones pregnant and unsure whether Mark Darcy or a new beau, played by Patrick Dempsey, is the father). Zellweger posed in a strapless gown featuring a thigh-high slit.
New Guy in Town
With Daniel Cleaver presumed dead in a plane crash, another handsome, well-coiffed man needed to join the love triangle. Enter Patrick Dempsey, playing Jack Qwant. Here, he joined Zellweger and Firth at the 2016 Paris premiere.
All Together Now
The larger cast, including Gemma Jones, Emma Thompson and Celia Imrie. posed together at the London premiere.
Back as Bridget and Daniel
And for the fourth installment of the movie, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, Grant is back in his role of Daniel Cleaver — despite having previously saying he would no longer do romantic comedies.
The two smiled together as if no time had passed at the Jan. 27 premiere in Paris.
The OGs and the Newbies
The OG cast mates were joined by new kids Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Morris, Leo Woodall and of course, Fielding — who posed next to Zellweger.
