The Night Agent has officially returned for another action-packed season!

The hit spy thriller, which returned to Netflix for season 3 on Feb. 19, stars Gabriel Basso as FBI agent Peter Sutherland who protects the country's secrets by preventing them from getting into the hands of criminals. The third season picked up after the "explosive events" of season 2.

"Night Agent Peter Sutherland is called in to track down a young treasury agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel after killing his boss," the plot description reads. "This kicks off a sequence of events in which Peter investigates a dark-money network while avoiding its paid assassins, putting him on a collision course with a relentless journalist."

In addition to Basso, the season 3 cast includes returning stars Fola Evans-Akingbola, Louis Herthum, Albert Jones, Ward Horton and Amanda Warren. Meanwhile, Genesis Rodriguez, David Lyons, Jennifer Morrison, Stephen Moyer and Callum Vinson all joined the cast.

While The Night Agent is known for its nonstop action, it has also drawn attention for its diverse set of filming locations — from Turkey to New York City.

Here's everything to know about the real-life filming locations of The Night Agent.

Locations: The University of British Columbia and St. James Anglican Church, British Columbia

Much of the first season of The Night Agent took place in Washington, D.C., as Peter was working at the White House. However, Vancouver served as the primary filming location which needed to be transformed to look like the U.S. capital.

While working for the government, Peter and some of his colleagues visit Georgetown University while protecting the vice president's daughter, Maddie Redfield (Sarah Desjardins).

Although the set resembles the prestigious university, filming took place at the University of British Columbia, according to Tudum. The series specifically utilized the school's chemistry building and the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at the UBC Library.

However, the library scenes were actually filmed inside the St. James Anglican Church in Vancouver. The church was built in 1881 and is Vancouver's oldest Anglican church.

Locations: Joe Brown Park, Fairmeade Farm, Riverview, Crease Clinic and Minnekhada Regional Park, British Columbia

One of the more difficult and realistic locations The Night Agent recreated was Camp David, the quiet retreat for the President of the United States in Catoctin Mountain Park, Md. Since the portrayal was a "big production," it was filmed across five different locations in Vancouver: Joe Brown Park, Fairmeade Farm, Riverview, Crease Clinic and Minnekhada Regional Park.

"It was a big, big production, so many moving parts,” Buchanan told Tudum.

In addition to filming taking place over several days in the various locations, the cast and crew also had to deal with nonstop rain penetrating every scene.

"They shot the interiors of the helicopter there, but it was raining and the seats were soaked because there were leaks in the helicopter," Basso recalled to Tudum.

Location: Fort Langley Airport, British Columbia

In the final moments of season 1, Peter parts ways with Rose and gets on a plane to prepare for his first mission as a night agent. In the show, he is meant to me at Joint Base Andrews but in reality, the scene was shot at a similar private airport — Fort Langley Airport near the Golden Ears mountains.

Location: Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel, Bangkok

While much of the filming for the first season took place in Vancouver to replicate Washington, D.C., the second season was set in Bangkok, Thailand, and New York City. The Night Agent creator Shawn Ryan recalled feeling "intrigued" by Bangkok and called the city "glorious"

“The action itself wasn’t necessarily dependent on being [in] a specific country,” Ryan explained to Tudum. “What I wanted was a feeling that Peter is not at home. Peter is out of his element — and is a stranger in a new land.”

He added, "I love just the look, especially at night, of these different neighborhoods and the vehicles that go by. These specific storefronts and the way that that city is so condensed. You go around one corner and there’s something completely different around another corner.”

The first few episodes were filmed in Bangkok and featured several real historical spots and popular tourist destinations — including the Wat Pho temple, Yaowarat Road and Phra Buddha Dhammakāya Thepmongkhon.

In addition to the real destinations that are featured in the show is the fictional hotel where Peter and his night action partner Alice Leeds (Brittany Snow) are staying. Their hotel headquarters were filmed at Sindhorn Village, a luxury development near Lumpini Park in Bangkok. Amongst the properties is the five-star Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel, where the partners stay.

Location: 73 Monroe Street, New York City

After spending some time in Bangkok, Peter returns to his new home in N.Y.C. Similar to Thailand, the scenes set in the Big Apple were also actually filmed there. Ryan told Tudum that they chose to do filming onsite to "make the scope of the show bigger."

“We really were able to take advantage of filming in New York in a way that very few shows do. We’re out in the world and able to embrace it,” he explained. “You could feel there’s nothing fake about it at all.”

Since Peter is living in N.Y.C., his apartment is frequently shown in The Night Agent. While it's not clear where the interior was shot, the exterior building is 73 Monroe Street in the Lower East Side neighborhood of Manhattan.

The real-life residential building, which was built in 1910, is located underneath the Manhattan Bridge and includes 20 rental units, according to City Realty.

The fictional Wynnfield Hotel serves as a significant location in season 2, as the dramatic finale takes place in the penthouse.

Although the Wynnfield Hotel isn't real, it was filmed inside the luxurious and historic InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel by IHG in Midtown, Manhattan.

While there were several locations in season 2 that were filmed in the real-life spots, the United Nations Headquarters in Manhattan was not one of them.

Instead, the crew used exterior shots of the building and shot interior scenes in the lobby of the Conrad New York Downtown Hilton hotel in lower Manhattan.

Istanbul, Turkey

Locations: Tüpraş Stadyumu, the Bosphorus Strait and historic downtown streets

While not all of The Night Agent season 3 filming locations have been disclosed, it included shots from New York, Washington, D.C. and Istanbul, Turkey. Istanbul served as the primary backdrop for the first few episodes while Peter continues his night action missions.

Some of the real Istanbul locations included the Tüpraş Stadyumu, the Bosphorus Strait and historic downtown streets.

"We did do, I think it was 13 days of filming in Istanbul in December and one day in November," Ryan told Entertainment Weekly in January 2025. "We've got some really amazing stuff. We introduce some new characters. We bring back some returning characters, and we filmed a car chase I think is going to be probably the most spectacular stunt sequence we've ever done on the show."
