Selma Blair Candidly Shares How Living with Multiple Sclerosis Has Impacted Her as a Single Parent Raising Her Son Arthur

Selma Blair is opening up about her experience as a single parent living with multiple sclerosis.

The Legally Blonde actress, 52, spoke with Today about how her diagnosis has impacted her while raising her son Arthur, 13, as a single mom. Blair spoke candidly about living with the disease and all the ways she’s working to raise awareness and destigmatize it.

“I think since I had him I’d been afflicted with MS, and I didn’t know [because] I was diagnosed later,” the Cruel Intentions star began. “My fatigue was always the main issue and as any parent knows, especially a single parent, there’s no room for extra fatigue.”

The mom said that she’s always had to find and connect with other people for tips and tricks on how to handle things, like her fatigue. Blair said that she always had to ask the question, “How do you do this?” when raising her son.

“I had to ask advice for everything,” she told Today, adding, that she’s now “in a good spot.”

Blair also shared that her son, who celebrated his 13th birthday in July 2024, is “so much older” now and, like most teenagers, “doesn’t want to be with me as much.” Arthur joined the proud mom in Paris for Fashion Week last September, as the two sat front row at the Chloé’s Spring 2025 runway show.

Although Arthur, whom Blair shares with her ex, fashion designer Jason Bleick, seemingly doesn’t like to be photographed by his mom too often, he posed with her last year for Mother’s Day. In the photo, Blair shared on her Instagram, the pair can be seen on an outdoor patio. Arthur sat in an armchair, as Blair crouched down beside him and her service dog Scout sat on the ground in front of them.

“This is the first Mother’s Day in ages, where my son lets me capture him for a photo. And my love is boundless,” Blair wrote in the caption. “Thank you Arthur. I’m the proudest mom. Happy Mother’s Day mamas ♥️.”
