Shifting Gears is welcoming a few familiar faces from star Tim Allen’s past this upcoming season.
The ABC sitcom will reunite Allen, 72, with Home Improvement stars Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn and Debbe Dunning on the season 2 premiere, which airs Wednesday, Oct. 1.
“Worlds are colliding!” the show’s official Instagram page captioned a post confirming the news.
While the details regarding who Richardson, Karn and Dunning will be playing are under wraps, Deadline, who was first to report the news, noted that their characters will appear alongside Allen’s Matt Parker and support him in an “unexpected way.”
The trio all starred alongside Allen on Home Improvement, which ran for eight seasons from 1991 to 1999 on ABC.
Allen and Richardson played husband and wife on the beloved show, starring as Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor and Jill Taylor. Their characters had three sons: Brad (Zachery Ty Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Mark (Taran Noah Smith).
Tim co-hosted a home improvement show called Tool Time alongside his longtime pal Albert “Al” Borland (Karn).
Both Richardson and Karn starred on Home Improvement throughout its entire run, while Dunning joined as Heidi Keppert, the “Tool Time girl,” beginning in season 3 after Pamela Anderson’s exit as Lisa.
Allen previously reunited with Richardson on Last Man Standing on ABC and with Karn on two History Channel shows, Assembly Required and More Power.
Shifting Gears stars Allen as a widowed owner of an auto restoration shop.
The series stars Two Broke Girls‘ Kat Dennings as Allen’s estranged TV daughter Riley Parker, who makes a splash in her dad’s life when she moves in with her two children.
Also in the cast are Seann William Scott as Gabriel, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Stitch, and Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis as Riley’s children, Carter and Georgia.
Season 1 featured guest stars including Brenda Song, Allen’s Last Man Standing costar Nancy Travis and Jay Leno as himself.
