Two men died at the same Northern California ski resort within 11 days of each other.
On Sunday, Feb. 15, Stuart McLaughlin, 53, died on the advanced Polaris trail at the same resort, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and Northstar Ski Resort confirmed in statements obtained by PEOPLE.
McLaughlin collided with another skier on the trail at 11:30 a.m. Ski patrol and the Northstar Fire Department responded to the scene where McLaughlin was pronounced deceased, according to Northstar.
The other skier was transported to Tahoe Forest Hospital for treatment.
"We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and the Northstar team extends our deepest condolences to the family, loved ones, and friends of the guests involved," Northstar general manager Tara Schoedinger said in a statement.
Days earlier, on Feb. 6, Nicholas Kenworthy, 26, died on the advanced Martis Trail at the Northstar Ski Resort after being involved in a "serious incident" on the mountain.

Ski Patrol responded and then transferred Kenworthy to the care of the Truckee Fire Department, and he was then pronounced deceased.
“Northstar California Resort, Northstar Ski Patrol, and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest’s family, loved ones, and friends,” Schoedinger said in response to the Feb. 6 death.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement extending “sincere condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones" following McLaughlin's death, Fox 40 reports.
