“It just sometimes feels like we don’t have that connection all the time,” Beau Clark confesses to his wife during the second episode of ‘House of Stassi’

The roles are reversed for Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark. But things may need to change, he confessed during the debut episodes of House of Stassi.
The Vanderpump Rules alum reintroduced herself to audiences in the new Hulu series, which chronicles her personal and professional life, including balancing work alongside navigating her marriage to Beau. The series dropped its first two episodes on Wednesday, July 29, with the second episode diving deeper into the married couple’s relationship.
Stassi, 38, and Beau, 46, began dating in August 2017, before he popped the question in July 2019. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the couple were forced to delay their Italian destination wedding until 2022, but they legally tied the knot in September 2020.
They welcomed their first child, daughter Hartford Charlie Rose on Jan. 7, 2021, and then son Messer Rhys on Sept. 7, 2023.
Since becoming parents, Beau stepped back from his previous career in casting, but in the House of Stassi series premiere episodes, he hints at wanting to return to work. The second episode began with Stassi receiving the news that Netflix has proposed broadcasting her podcast.
Stassi, thrilled by the idea, immediately tells Beau, “Beau, I hear you want to go back to work. Come on. You don’t need to.”
“No, I want to go back to work,” he replies.
“It complicates things,” Stassi replies. “If you’re going to work every day, I have to say no to a lot of jobs that actually pay a lot.”
Beau reiterates in his confessional how he wants to work to rebuild his sense of self. “I love taking care of my home. As much as I love being a father, I didn’t think I would be losing all the other pieces that made me me,” he says.

Meanwhile, the episode cuts back to their conversation, where Stassi tells him, “It’s never going to be 50/50. I will pay you not to go back to work.”
However, Beau says in his confessional it’s not about the money. “It’s about me doing something that I love that I’ve been doing for a very long time and gives me a sense of self and purpose. At least I’m doing something on my own,” he says. “She totally missed the point.”
Later during their conversation, Beau tells Stassi that the experience is making him feel like a “1950s housewife.”
“I’m cleaning everything. I’m feeding the kids. And then you come over and are like, ‘Can I have a beer?’ and sit down in front of the TV and put your hands down your pants like Al Bundy,” he continues, and Stassi denies doing that, and he explains that he knows she doesn’t do that.

The emotional chat came after Beau opened up to Taylor Strecker about his feelings, tearfully sharing that he was feeling “angry” and “resentful.”
“I just got so detached in a sense from her, where it’s like we’re roommates. I don’t feel like worthy, kind of,” Beau said. “I don’t know, I’m just not really happy.”
Taylor later conveyed those feelings to Stassi, who sat down with Beau to discuss his feelings of being “overwhelmed.”
“I just haven’t felt very good about myself, about like where I’m at,” he admits. “I feel overwhelmed. I feel that I’m in a hamster wheel. I feel like I have this dark void in my gut, but most of the time I’m putting on a happy face.”
“Okay, that’s scary,” Stassi replies. But he insists he’s happy, and she refutes him, leading Beau to say, “Well I’m not happy. It’s not like I’m capital letters happy. All caps. I’m like a capital H —”
“You’re not even a capital H,” she says. “You’re like a Comic Sans lower case all happy.”

Stassi asks what the solution is, and he simply says, “casting.”
But Stassi still isn’t enthused by the idea, saying it’s “really, really hard.” She says while she wants him to be happy, she also wants him to utilize his Instagram following. Beau doesn’t feel drawn to it like he does with casting, telling her, “I’ve literally been doing something for 17 years and I really, really enjoyed it, and I was really, really good at it. It made me happy.”
However, Stassi just wishes he would “dream bigger.”
While she says in confessional she wants him to “manifest a little bit higher,” he mocks her suggestion of Instagram ads as her idea of dreaming “bigger.”

In their conversation, Stassi admits she thought “everything’s great” in the relationship, but Beau explains it’s because she has all her needs met. “You do like your alone time. You’re back on track with work,” he says.
He says he also needs affection shown through his love language of physical touch. “Every time you think about physical touch, you think it’s about having sex every other day. But it’s about giving me a hug when you wake up in the morning,” Beau says.
“It just sometimes feels like we don’t have that connection all the time. I feel just kinda like I’m here by myself with my roommate,” Beau says, and she begins to cry as he says, “See this is what I didn’t want you to feel. Like this is why I’m just like, ‘I wish I didn’t say anything, because now —”
“No, I want you to say things,” Stassi tearfully replies. “I need to make more of an effort.”
House of Stassi airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on Freeform; episodes are available to stream the next day on Hulu or Disney+. The entire season will be available to stream on Thursday, July 30.
