Stranger Things star Brett Gelman is married!
The actor, 48, tied the knot with musician and actress Ari Dayan at Villa Lena in Tuscany, Italy, on June 22, 2024. They were joined by 75 of their closest friends and family for a weekend filled with laughter, dancing and plenty of aperitivo spritzes.
“We wanted the celebration to be wild and intimate with our nearest and dearest,” Dayan exclusively tells PEOPLE. “It was the greatest outpouring of love that we had ever experienced, Brett cried more in that weekend than his whole life combined.”
The couple of seven years announced their engagement on April 28, 2023.
“SHE SAID YES!!! ❤️❤️❤️ 💍 💍 💍 ❤️❤️❤️,” Gelman captioned an Instagram carousel featuring a photo of him proposing down on one knee, and a snap of Dayan showing off her sparkling new ring. In her own Instagram post, Dayan wrote, “Can’t wait for Mr. Gelman to become Mr. Dayan.” The Fleabag alum commented, “Just call me Mr. D!!! ❤️❤️❤️”
The pair’s sunny summer wedding ceremony outside the luxurious villa incorporated several Jewish wedding traditions, such as the breaking of the glass.
Gelman — who will return as Murray Bauman in the fifth and final season of Stranger Things later this year — went from battling Demogorgans to exchanging vows with his longtime love. Although his Netflix costars were not in attendance, there was no shortage of support on the groom’s big day.
After sharing a sweet kiss at the arbor as husband and wife, Gelman and Dayan tightly hugged their loved ones.
The couple stunned wearing white outfits designed by Shahar Avnett and styled by Avigail Collins. They also accessorized with jewelry by Icerock Diamonds.
Dayan turned heads in a square neck corset with swooping chains on one side. Her skirt had two high slits, which exposed thigh wedding garters with dramatic long bows. She also wore long lace gloves and a flowing veil with bow details. Complementing Dayan’s bridal look was Gelman’s sheer long-sleeve shirt, which had an oversized bow in the front as well as silver detailing. He paired the top with satin white pants and black dress shoes.

After the ceremony, everyone “gathered for aperitivo sipping spritzes to the sound of Italo disco.”
“During dinner, Ari did an impromptu strip tease, minus the stripping to Harry Belafonte while guests housed Tuscan steaks and handmade pasta with a sauce of lemon and mint grown in the villa’s garden,” the couple tells PEOPLE.
The newlyweds then sliced into a millefoglie topped with pink and white flowers. The classic French dessert is layered with puff pastry and pastry cream, and means “a thousand layers” in Italian.
“The morning after, we took a group hike to a nearby abandoned town with a population of two, a divorced couple living across the street from one another,” Dayan says. “After, we convened poolside for a Golden Girls drag-themed BBQ, wherein Brett channeled Bea Arthur. It was the cheapest and ugliest drag show of all time.”
Eight months after tying the knot, Gelman and Dayan released a podcast together called Neurotica. The first episode premiered on Feb. 17 and new episodes are released every Monday.
