Nena Evans is preparing for motherhood with the same classic, effortless style that guides her own personal wardrobe.
The fashion and lifestyle influencer, 32, is currently expecting her first baby with her husband, Tre. Ahead of their son's arrival, the mom-to-be has curated the perfect space to welcome him into. Evans tells PEOPLE she aimed to create a nursery that felt "peaceful, timeless and rooted in nature, almost like a soft, storybook escape."
With that inspiration in mind, Evans says she tapped a color scheme of "natural tones" and added depth with "subtle textures" to carry her classic design vision. "We leaned into gentle greens, dusty blues, warm neutrals and delicate botanical details to create a calm and cozy environment," says the content creator.

She notes that the "most personal touches" in the room can be found on the shelves, where they added "meaningful books," "heirloom-inspired accents" and "sweet little spaces designed for quiet moments together."
Evans' ideal nursery became a reality with help from the founder and namesake of Lauren Christopher Designs, whom Evans says was an "amazing" asset throughout the process.

"She truly understood my vision and elevated it in the most beautiful way," she says of the Virginia-based design expert. "She balanced softness, warmth and functionality perfectly, and made the entire process feel so thoughtful and special."
The style blogger is feeling a mix of excitement, gratitude and a bit of nervousness as she and her husband anticipate their child's arrival. Evans says that seeing the nursery — the "whimsical little oasis," as she describes it — take shape made her realize just how soon they'll be parents, adding a layer of emotion she didn't expect to experience.

"Sometimes I find myself sitting in the glider, gently rocking and imagining how beautifully different life is about to become, and that feeling makes the space even more special," she shares. "I’m really trying to slow down and soak in these last quiet moments with Tre … It’s such a beautiful and special season!"
Evans has plenty to look forward to as she approaches motherhood, between the memories they'll make in the nursery and the baby wardrobe she can't wait to put together for her son.
"Dressing a child also feels like such a fun opportunity to play with more color and sweetness," she says. "It’s hard to know exactly what his style will be until he’s here, but I hope it evolves to reflect his personality as he grows."
Most of all, however, Evans is excited for the "quiet, everyday moments" that she'll share with her husband and son: "Holding him, watching him grow and building our little family," she tells PEOPLE. "More than anything, I’m just excited to be his mom. It truly feels like the greatest gift."
