Suki Waterhouse is one chic mama at the 2025 Met Gala.
Waterhouse, 33, is back on the Met steps after taking last year’s gala off as a new mom — and she’s doing it in style. For the New York City event on Monday, May 5, she wore a sexy backless black Michael Kors tuxedo-inspired two-piece gown on the red carpet.
The sleek gown featured a plunging double-lapel neckline that showed off a hint of cleavage. The top half of the gown was entirely backless, and put the spotlight on the actress and singer’s toned physique. The bottom half of the dress consisted of a simple skirt with a thigh-high slit.
Waterhouse completed the look with well-defined lashes, rosy blush and a pink lip. She accessorized with a tennis necklace, tennis bracelet and dangling diamond earrings.

In October 2024, Vogue shared details on the 2025 Met Gala, announcing that Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour would be co-chairs for the event, alongside LeBron James as honorary chair.
The gala, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on the first Monday in May, is a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the theme for the gala.
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton said that the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”
The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.
The Met Gala’s dress code for this year is “Tailored for You,” a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. It also boasts a star-studded host committee that includes Simone Biles and her husband Jonathan Owens, plus Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Usher and Angel Reese.
Waterhouse and fiancé Robert Pattinson have attended multiple Met Galas. In 2023, they made their couple debut in whimsical ensembles that made them look like a fairytale prince and princess come to life. She wore a sheer garden-inspired Fendi gown as an ode to the night’s honoree Karl Lagerfeld’s career at the label; he wore a navy Dior suit with a pleated skirt on his trousers.
Waterhouse and Pattinson, 38, have also previously attended the event separately. The Twilight alum attended twice with ex FKA twigs, from whom he split in 2017 after three years of dating.
The “Good Looking” singer attended in 2014 solo but stepped out for an afterparty with her then-boyfriend Bradley Cooper, to whom she was linked in 2013. She and the actor broke up in 2015.
Pattinson and Waterhouse, who got engaged in December 2023, haven’t revealed much about their baby girl, whom they welcomed in March 2024.
Throughout her pregnancy, which Waterhouse announced in November 2023 at the Corona Capital Festival, the first-time mom showed off her baby bump on red carpets, like when she attended the 2024 Emmy Awards in a cutout Valentino gown.

The Daisy Jones & The Six actress hinted at her growing family during Coachella in April 2024, when she confirmed the sex of her baby.
“I had some big life changes happen recently, some pretty big events have been going down,” she told the crowd during her performance, as captured in a fan video.
Continued Waterhouse, “I love amazing ladies, and I’ve been very lucky to have my own little amazing lady and meet the love of my life.”
The ultra-private couple also sparked marriage speculation when Sharon Stone referred to Pattinson as Waterhouse’s husband at the American Heart Association Red Dress Collection Concert in January. According to In Touch, Waterhouse reportedly did not attempt to correct Stone, 67.
