Sara Sampaio’s beloved dog Mongo is still missing.
On Tuesday, May 20, the Superman actress, 33, posted an update with her Instagram followers after first sharing that her pup went missing on April 28. Despite posting a missing dog flyer and offering a $10,000 reward, Mongo has not been found.
“This is the last photo I took with Mongo. Unfortunately he’s still missing,” she captioned a photo of Mongo sitting on her lap. “It’s been 3 weeks and the worst weeks of my life. Yesterday was rough, it was the 1year anniversary of bringing him home.”
Sampaio went on to share how special Mongo is to her. “I had such a deep bond with him from the second I got to hold him for the first time, he saved me in so many ways, but having that unconditional pure love was what I craved most in this world, and he gave me that, every single day,” she continued.
The model was also candid about her mental health, saying it has taken a “deep dive” since her dog went missing. She went on to ask her family, friends and fans to “be patient” with her as she goes through this difficult time.
Sampaio went on to write that the hardest part is “not knowing what happen to him” or “if he’s ok.”
“How do you grieve and still hold hope? How do you move on with your life when everything just feels unimportant and trivial? I don’t know, trying to figure that out still.”
The At Midnight star continued, “We tried everything we could to find him, we posted everywhere, made flyers, got sniffing dogs, hired professionals, animal communicators, you name it, we did it. I’m coming to terms with my own limitations and how little control I have and that there’s a possibility I’ll never see him again, and that has been extremely hard to process.”
She concluded her post, “This will probably be the last update I’ll make regarding Mongo, please don’t ask me for updates, if we find him, I promise I’ll blast it everywhere. To Mongo, I love you and I hope you are safe. Mummy misses you so much my sweet little monkey.”
Sampaio’s comment section is full of supportive messages. Superman director James Gunn wrote, “❤️❤️❤️ We’re here for you, Sara,” while Jasmine Tookes added, “Sending all my love Sara 🤎🙏🏾 Mongo, come home!!! 🥹🥹🥹.”
Sampaio first posted that Mongo was missing on April 29. “HELP!!!! REWARD! No questions ask! Please help, mongo escape our fence and we can’t find him. We are desperate to find him. Please please help us. If you are in the la area and by outpost/hollywood hills/ Runyon area. He’s very small and friendly. He’s probably scared. He’s everything to me!” she wrote alongside lost pet notice.
On March 8, she celebrated Mongo’s first birthday with a collection of photos, which she captioned, “It’s this little monkey’s 1st birthday 🥹🥹🐒 he’s been such a brightness in our lives ❤️.”
Sampaio stars as Eve Teschmacher in Superman, which opens on July 11.
