Susan Sarandon’s Daughter Eva Amurri Reveals Why She Sold Historic Home She Spent 2 Years Renovating

Susan Sarandon’s daughter Eva Amurri opened up about why she sold the “historic” Westport, Connecticut home she spent two years renovating.

“Although [the home] was really beautiful, we were looking for a change after [her husband Ian Hock] and I got engaged. We wanted something that was ours together, not one that I had been living in when I met him,” Amurri, 40, told Realtor.com in an interview published on Thursday, June 12. “So we put the last house on the market and it sold the first weekend, and all of a sudden I was like, ‘Oh, my God! Like, what do I do?’”

Moving away was a huge decision for Amurri and her husband because she’d “completely overhauled” their historic home during the extensive renovation process.

Eva – who is the daughter of Oscar winner Sarandon and Italian filmmaker Franco Amurri – recalled being unexpectedly thrown into the “crazy” world of house hunting before finally finding a new construction that was “the perfect size for [her] very large family.” (The former Californication star and ex-husband Kyle Martino share two sons, Major and Mateo, born in 2016 and 2020 respectively, and a daughter, Marlowe, born in 2014. Amurri and Martino divorced in 2020 after nine years of marriage.)

Susan Sarandon was uncompromising when it came to her family’s diet, according to her daughter Eva Amurri. Amurri revealed that her mother, 78, was an “almond mom” in an interview with SheKnows, published Thursday, November 21. “[Our new home] was wonderful, but it was very plain,” she said. “If you see any of my homes or photos that I’ve shared on my blog, you can see, that’s not my style. I have a very eclectic, contemporary design style.”

She went on, “I like to have a lot of fun with my interior design, and so I knew when I saw [the home] that it was going to be a large project — certainly an overwhelming project – but also a really fun project, because I was able to start with much more of a blank slate than in any other home that I’d had.”

“We’ve now been in this home for two years, and it’s been really exciting to fine-tune how we want to feel in every space that we live in as a family,” she added. “We’re in a great place with this house, and I’ve definitely had so much fun designing it and, of course, even more so now that I have a furniture line.”

Amurri launched a signature furniture line in collaboration with Benchmade Modern in June 2024. She will next put her extensive home design skills to use in The Westport Project, a new web series where she builds a Westport “spec house” from the ground up. (The Westport Project premieres on Thursday, June 26, on YouTube.)

Elsewhere, the actress tied the knot with Hock in a French garden party-themed ceremony in Hudson Valley, New York in June 2024 after getting engaged in Paris the previous year.

Prior to her wedding, Amurri exclusively told Us Weekly that she wanted a “sexier” Kim Kassas wedding dress for her second trip down the aisle. She later poked fun at anyone who was “scandalized by [her] breasts not being ‘put away’” on her wedding day by sharing a close-up photo of her cleavage in her strapless gown.

“Feel free to screenshot this for later,” she joked via Instagram at the time.

In April, Amurri announced to her social media followers that she’d undergone a breast reduction procedure but was struggling with the physical toll of the surgery.

“Apparently random bruising can show up during the healing process!” she wrote to fans. “It’s been strange to see my body bruised and recovering from trauma. It’s not an easy sight, and it’s definitely brought up a lot for me. I’m looking at these next few weeks as a great opportunity to be kind to myself and nurture myself.”

When fans expressed concern about her condition, Amurri assured them that she was focused on “self-care” during her recovery period.

“Nourishing my body during this healing time has felt like the best form of self-care,” she wrote. “I’ve really been enjoying helping my body heal by giving it what it needs to feel best.”
