SZA would like to see less negativity directed toward Megan Thee Stallion.
On May 21, the “Saturn” singer, 35, spoke about the “bullying” Megan, 30, faces in a comment on an Instagram video about Tory Lanez’s legal team’s claim earlier this month that there’s new evidence to prove he didn’t shoot Megan in 2020 — despite being convicted of the crime two years later.
The Instagram video in question finds influencer and legal expert Alicia Luncheon responding to a May 14 press conference where Unite the People, Lanez’s legal team, claimed to have a new witness — a bodyguard for one of Megan’s friends — who allegedly overheard the friend say Lanez, 32, didn’t shoot Megan.
In the comments section, SZA wrote, “The density !!!!! I’m actually SO shocked at the amount of ppl fully comfortable bullying a woman that’s proven to be a victim of assault ??!”
She continued, “Like out loud where other ppl can see you ?? Lmao u finna be stupid OUTLOUD ?”
The “Kill Bill” artist’s comments come after Megan shared a TikTok post on May 19 featuring a note about Unite the People’s claim.
“At what point are yall gonna stop making me have to re live being shot BY TORY !? At what point are Tory and yall FANS gonna stop lying ? Like how much is the check to keep harassing me?” she began, referring to Lanez’s supporters who have denied he’s guilty.
She continued: “One min him/ yall said I was never shot now yall letting him play in yall face AGAIN and say I was shot but it wasn’t him oh ok… ?!”
“WHY IN TF WOULD ME … MEGAN THEE STALLION HAVE TO LIE ON THIS MF ABT SHOOTING ME! How yall mad at the person that got shot ????” Megan wrote. “FACTS ARE FACTS, he did it , it was PROVEN IN COURT f— the hate campaign on the internet TORY YOU SHOT ME !!”
The “Body” rapper doubled down on her disbelief regarding Unite the People’s claim. “Ain’t no new f––ing evidence yall been saying the same s— for years,” she said. “TORY PLEASE LEAVE ME ALONE you are a f––ing demon.”
One day after the press conference, Megan’s lawyer Alex Spiro also shut down the claim in a statement to XXL.
“Tory Lanez was tried and convicted by a jury of his peers and his case was properly adjudicated through the court system. This is not a political matter — this is a case of a violent assault that was resolved in the court of law,” he said.
Lanez, who was convicted in December 2022, is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan in the foot in July 2020.
