A style swing and a miss!
Taylor Fritz shared a playful response on X in reaction to the wardrobe malfunction that was brought to his attention after fans pointed it out during his 2025 US Open match against Novak Djokovic on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
The American tennis star, 27, sported a Hugo Boss headband during his match; however, the black accessory that complemented his coordinating back outfit was — wait for it — upside down.
After the four-set, quarterfinal loss to the 38-year-old Serbian tennis star, Fritz playfully acknowledged the fashion-forward mishap on social media and asked his followers why no one made him aware of it at the time.
“Yo why’d nobody tell me that s— was backwards,” he wrote on X in reference to his upside-down headband the day after the match.
Fans and social media users flooded his post with comments, showing their support for the player and hyping up his unintentional style choice in response. Fellow pro tennis players showed him love as well.
“Still rocked it,” replied Nick Kyrgios on X, adding, “I can assure you bro haha if I was in the locker room I would of told you. I still owe you caretaker.”
Fritz’s loss to Djokovic eliminates him from the US Open. The 24-Grand Slam champ continues his run in the tournament on Friday, Sept. 5.
While Fritz himself turned heads for his style on the tennis court, his girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, has been known for her fashion-forward looks off of it. As an influencer and model, she’s made it her mission to “make tennis cool again.”
Riddle has racked up millions of followers on both TikTok and Instagram for her fashion, beauty and travel content. She is most known, however, for giving an inside look at the world of competitive tennis and making the sport more appealing to a younger generation.
The couple has been together since 2020. They have supported each other around the world, whether it be in person at matches or from afar in interviews.
“There’s been a pretty constant results and ranking rise since we’ve been together,” Fritz said of Riddle during his Wimbledon run this year, per ESPN.
“I think I would have to say she’s been a big help to me just kind of keeping me focused,” he continued, “Having someone who cares and just pushes you to just do better and do the right things, be healthier.”
