Adan Manzano’s tragic death comes less than a year after he lost his wife, Ashleigh Boyd.
In April 2024, Boyd died in a fatal car crash per The Topeka Capital-Journal. She was 24 years old.
According to the outlet, Boyd was driving with her and Manzano’s infant daughter, Eleanor, in the vehicle. Boyd’s car “collided head-on” with a pickup truck. Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Eleanor was transported to the hospital and recovered. Following the accident, Boyd’s obituary was posted online.
“Ashleigh was the most kindest, caring, beautiful person. Her sparkling personality was contagious and would light up any room she walked into,” the obit read. “She was a ray of sunshine and always had a smile on her face. Ashleigh touched so many lives and had a positive influence on everyone she met!”

Boyd was survived by Manzano, Eleanor, her parents, grandparents and siblings.
While Manzano did not publicly mourn the death of his wife, his Instagram bio reads, “Always in my heart @ashleighboyd37 ❤️🕊.”
After the loss of Boyd, Manzano continued to work as a sports reporter for Telemundo Kansas City. He covered several big sports events including Super Bowl LVIII, the U.S. Open Cup, the MLB postseason and more.
Earlier this month, Manzano traveled to The Big Easy as he geared up to cover Super Bowl LIX but tragedy struck yet again. Manzano died after arriving in New Orleans. He was 27.
“We are sorry to share that Adan Manzano, reporter and sports anchor for Telemundo Kansas City passed away yesterday in New Orleans while on assignment to cover the Super Bowl for Telemundo KC and Tico Sports,” a translated Thursday, February 6, statement shared via the outlet’s Facebook page read. “We are cooperating with authorities as they investigate this tragic event. Adam was an exceptional professional and a rising star whose dedication and talent reflected excellence in his work.”

The statement continued: “We will deeply miss Adam, his passion for sports and the contributions he made to the local community. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones at this difficult time”
A cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
One day after news broke of Manzano’s passing, a suspect was arrested in connection to the journalist’s death. According to a local Fox affiliate, law enforcement officers in Kenner, Louisiana, arrested Danette Colbert on Friday, February 7, after she allegedly used Manzano’s credit card at multiple stores in the New Orleans area.
