Alexe Godin’s journey to finding love is off to a rosy start.
Because while The Bachelor’s Grant Ellis met 25 stunning women during the season 29 premiere, it was the 27-year-old pediatric speech therapist who stood out to him the most—and ultimately earned the all-important first impression rose.
“I really enjoyed our time tonight,” Grant, 31, said before giving Alexe the coveted prize during the Jan. 27 episode. “Aside from being beautiful, I think that you’re funny, you’re smart, you’re intelligent and I had a great time.”
Clearly flattered by the compliments, she thanked Grant for the distinction by going in for a kiss.
“I am so happy,” she declared in a confessional interview. “It’s validating that he’s seeing me for who I am and enjoying my little quirks.”
Alexe, who grew up on a farm in the eastern Canadian province of New Brunswick, is an avid animal lover and is fluent in French, according to her official bio. And true to her rural roots, she arrived at the Bachelor mansion with an adorable white llama by her side.
“Canadians are known to be some of the friendliest people in the world,” she explained as Grant smiled, “so I thought, ‘Why not introduce you to my no-drama llama?”
