The 2025 Oscars nominations have been announced, and not all of this year’s biggest stars, filmmakers and movies made the cut.
Emilia Pérez leads the pack with 13 Academy Awards nods, including Best Picture, Best International Feature Film and Best Director for Jacques Audiard — but one major star was snubbed. While leading ladies Karla Sofía Gascón and Zoe Saldaña scored nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Supporting Role, respectively, their costar Selena Gomez was noticeably left out of the latter category.
The snub is surprising for Gomez, 32, who scored BAFTA and Golden Globes nominations for her role as Jessi Del Monte. She even took home Best Actress at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival along with Gascón, 52, Saldaña, 46, and costar Adriana Paz.
Joining Saldaña in the Best Actress in a Supporting Role category are Monica Barbaro for A Complete Unknown, Ariana Grande for Wicked, Felicity Jones for The Brutalist and Isabella Rossellini for Conclave.
