The Dukes of Hazzard Cast: Where Are They Now? 

Tom Wopat as Luke Duke

Tom Wopat shot to fame as the charismatic Luke Duke, doing daring jumps in the iconic 1969 Dodge Charger, General Lee. 

Since Dukes, he’s carved out a successful career on screen and on Broadway. Wopat acted on TV shows like Cybill and Longmire, and had a cameo in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.

On stage, he’s had roles in I Love My Wife, City of Angels, A Catered Affair, and more. He earned a Tony nomination for his performance in Annie Get Your Gun.

Apart from acting, Wopat also pursued a music career. His latest record, Demos, was released earlier this year.

Wopat, who has had several run-ins with the law over the years, has over 100,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.

The 73-year-old has five children with his wife, Kathy. 

John Schneider as Bo Duke

John Schneider played Bo Duke, the impulsive and daring Duke cousin who often found himself behind the wheel of the General Lee. As one of the main characters, he was known for his charm, driving skills, and close bond with his cousin Luke. 

Beyond The Dukes of Hazzard, Schneider landed roles in shows like Smallville and The Haves and the Have Nots.

He has also enjoyed a successful country music career and appeared on Dancing With the Stars in 2018.

The 65-year-old has been married four times. First to Tawny Little (1983–1986), then Elly Castle (1993–2019), thirdly to Alicia Allain (2019–2023), and lastly to Dee Dee Benkie (2024). 

Schneider helped raise Castle’s children from a previous relationship, and they also share a biological daughter, Karis.

However, Schneider, who has dealt with some legal woes, has a strained relationship with his adult children.

Catherine Bach as Daisy Duke

Catherine Bach played Daisy Duke, the confident, strong-willed cousin who made short denim shorts a fashion moment. Her role added both humor and heart to the show’s dynamic. 

After The Dukes of Hazzard, Bach landed a recurring role in 2012 as Anita Lawson on the soap The Young and the Restless.

The 71-year-old was married twice: first to David Shaw (1976–1981) and then to Peter Lopez in 1990. She had two children with Lopez, who died in 2010. 

Denver Pyle as Uncle Jesse

Denver Pyle played Uncle Jesse, the Duke family’s moral compass and father figure. His character was deeply respected in the Hazzard community, often acting as a steadying influence amid the chaos. 

Pyle had a long career in television and film, including roles in The Andy Griffith Show and Bonnie and Clyde.

The actor died on Dec. 25, 1997, at age 77 from lung cancer. He had been married twice and had two sons with his first wife, Marilee Carpenter.

James Best as Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane

James Best played Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane, the comic-relief lawman constantly outwitted by the Dukes. His antics and signature laugh made him one of the show’s most recognizable characters. 

Outside the series, Best had a great career as an actor, director, and teacher, with credits stretching back to the 1950s. He also appeared on popular TV programs including The Andy Griffith Show, Bonanza and Gunsmoke. In his later years, he focused on conducting acting workshops.

He was married three times and had three children. He died in 2015 at the age of 88 due to complications from pneumonia.

Sorrell Booke as Boss Hogg

Sorrell Booke played the corrupt and greedy Jefferson Davis “Boss” Hogg, the mayor and county commissioner of Hazzard County. 

Outside of Dukes, Booke was a classically trained actor with degrees from Columbia and Yale, and had roles in dozens of television shows and stage productions.

Booke was known for being highly intellectual and fluent in multiple languages — a stark contrast to the over-the-top character he portrayed.

He was married once to Miranda Knickerbocker (1958–1973), with whom he had two children. The actor died on Feb. 11, 1994, at age 64 from cancer. 

Ben Jones as Cooter Davenport

Ben Jones played Cooter Davenport, the lovable mechanic who was always ready to help the Duke boys out of a jam. His garage served as both a workplace and a hideout when needed. 

After the show ended, Jones transitioned into politics, serving two terms as a U.S. House Representative from Georgia.

The 83-year-old remains active in public life and often participates in Dukes of Hazzard events and memorabilia shows. He’s been married to Alma Viator since 1992, and the pair share two children. 

Richard ‘Rick’ Hurst as Deputy Cletus Hogg

Richard “Rick” Hurst is best known for his role as Deputy Cletus Hogg. where he played the bumbling yet lovable cousin of corrupt county commissioner Boss Hogg.

Outside of The Dukes of Hazzard, Rick Hurst had a steady career in television and film, with appearances in shows like Sanford and Son, Gunsmoke and The Partridge Family. He also featured in movies such as Steel Magnolias. 

Hurst was married twice and had one child, Ryan Hurst, who played Opie Winston on Sons of Anarchy.

Rick died on June 26, 2025, at the age of 79. His cause of death is currently unknown. 

Waylon Jennings as The Balladeer

Waylon Jennings served as the show’s narrator, known as “The Balladeer,” and also sang the iconic theme song, “Good Ol’ Boys.” His voice guided viewers through the storylines with dry humor and Southern charm. 

Jennings was already a country music legend before joining the show, as a pioneer of the outlaw country movement alongside artists like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.

He died in 2002 at the age of 64 due to complications from diabetes. Jennings was married four times and had six children, including musician and Grammy award winner Shooter Jennings.

Waylon’s music and legacy remain influential in country circles today.
