The Real Housewives of New York star Ubah Hassan is getting married!
Ubah shared the news of her engagement to boyfriend Oliver Dachsel via Instagram on Saturday, May 31. She captioned a series of photos from the proposal, “To love and be loved by someone so kind, deeply good, and quietly breathtaking 💍 🧿.”
The pair have been together since at least the show’s 14th season, when Ubah mentioned in an episode by referring to Dachsel as “Mr. Connecticut.”
Dachsel, for the most part, stayed away from the cameras, and Ubah explained why during part 1 of the season 14 cast reunion.
“He is very private because of his work,” she said at the time.
The duo made their first public appearance together in October 2023 at the American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala at Lincoln Center in N.Y.C.

The Real Housewives of New York City’s Ubah Hassan has a new perspective on her relationship with costar Brynn Whitfield. “From the start, it felt like Brynn had it out for me,” Ubah, 41, said in a Wednesday, January 29, interview with Glamour. “She’d make little jabs — wrapped in just enough kindness to seem […]
“It’s our first time on the carpet together,” Ubah told People at the time. “We love it, it’s very beautiful. We just saw [George Balanchine’s] Jewels last month, it was my birthday present.” She also revealed the pair met through mutual friends.
The couple’s relationship is a bright spot during what has appeared to be a tough year for Ubah. In a January 2025 interview with Glamour, she explained what happened to her friendship with costar Brynn Whitfield.
“From the start, it felt like Brynn had it out for me,” Ubah said at the time. “She’d make little jabs — wrapped in just enough kindness to seem harmless — that would pile on. It felt like she was determined to create a false narrative about me. Looking back, I see the pattern: She’d push me until I reacted then later come to me in tears, saying how much she loves me, how kind I am, and how much the show needs me.”
Things between the pair reached a boiling point during the RHONY cast trip to Puerto Rico. In the episode, Ubah alleged that Brynn slept with someone in order to get cast on the show. In response, Brynn revealed that she had previously been sexually assaulted. While Brynn claimed that Ubah knew about the incident, Ubah alleged that she had no knowledge of the traumatic incident.
In the interview Ubah shared that she has “regret” for suggesting that Brynn “slept with someone to get this job.”
“The context was that it felt like Brynn was pushing all of us to perform, especially me. I said that out of frustration,” Ubah explained. “I told her that I got this job because of who I am — I don’t have to fake storylines or create drama. Brynn didn’t give me this job. She’s not a producer. And even the producers don’t tell me what to do or say.”
