‘The Valley’ Recap: Jax Taylor Wishes Brittany Cartwright Left Him a ‘Long Time Ago’

Jax Taylor appears ready to own up to some of his bad behavior.

During the Tuesday, June 3, episode of The Valley, the reality star took a break from working on himself at an in-patient treatment facility to check in with costar Jason Caperna

“I’m so tired of anger. I’m so tired of yelling,” Jax, 45, shared before acknowledging some mistakes with his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright. “I also pushed her away. I pushed her away and I didn’t even f***ing see it. I didn’t even realize what I was doing. I’ve gotten away with it for so long that I found this to be acceptable behavior and it’s obviously not.”

A montage of clips began to play where Jax was not speaking to Brittany, 36, in a respectful manner.

Brittany Cartwright has some thoughts on ex-husband Jax Taylor’s decision to enter rehab. “I think if his job wasn’t on the line, he wouldn’t have went [to rehab],” Brittany, 36, said during her Thursday, April 24, appearance on the “MisSpelling” podcast. “On the show, he’s like, ‘I’m going to miss out on a lot of […]

According to Jax, entering a treatment facility was a big “wakeup call.”

“I wish I was held more accountable,” he told Jason, 41, while holding back tears. “I wish Brittany would have left me a long time ago.”

In August 2024, Brittany filed for divorce from Jax after five years of marriage. The couple share son, Cruz, 4, who was recently diagnosed with autism.

The candid phone call left both Jason and his wife, Janet Caperna, hopeful that the former Vanderpump Rules star was ready to change some of his behavior moving forward.

“I’m hearing an acknowledgement from Jax that he realizes his behavior was inappropriate and has been inappropriate for awhile,” Janet, 40, shared in a confessional interview. “It’s a good start, and I’m hopeful it’s the beginning of change. We’ll see what happens from here.”

Jason added, “This is the first time where I have talked to you and you’ve taken accountability for things and not said, ‘I messed up but…’”

Later on in the show, however, Brittany expressed doubts that the treatment facility really was having a positive impact on her estranged husband.

According to Brittany, Jax sent her an email saying he won’t be paying any more money on the mortgage they both share. The bombshell quickly left her wondering what could happen next.

“I was always hopeful that being in the facility would make some kind of change or open his eyes just a little bit to do something better,” she said. “But based on his behavior the whole time he’s been in there, I am so worried that he hasn’t learned a damn thing.”

The Valley airs on Bravo Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET. Stream old episodes anytime on Peacock.
