Kristen Doute and her fiancé, Luke Broderick, are officially parents after welcoming their first baby, Us Weekly can exclusively confirm.
“She’s here, and we still can’t believe it. Luke is even hotter as a dad, and I just feel so lucky,” Doute, 42, tells Us Weekly. “And even though I haven’t slept or showered in two days, seeing our daughter and finally being able to hold her makes it all worth it. We’re completely overwhelmed with love and so grateful for her— our lives are already changed completely.”
Doute and Broderick, 34, named their daughter Kaia Lily. The couple officially welcomed their newborn on Wednesday, June 11. The inspiration for Kaia’s name, which is Hawaiian for “the sea,” came from the couple’s affinity for the Aloha State where they ultimately got engaged.
“We knew we wanted our baby name to have something to do, or revolve around, water,” Doute explains of her little one’s moniker. “Lillies are my favorite flower. They’re associated with new beginnings, beauty, and also the name Lily indicates a ‘gentle and compassionate nature, suggesting a kind and caring personality.’”

Doute and Broderick began dating after meeting at a friend’s wedding in June 2022. They went public with their relationship that December.
Us Weekly broke the news of the couple’s engagement in September 2024, revealing that Broderick proposed to Doute on a boat in Maui, Hawaii, earlier that month. “It was a total surprise,” she told Us at the time.
“I knew from the moment we met that Luke was my person,” Doute gushed. “I am so excited to continue this journey together, now as fiancés.”
In November 2024, Doute announced that she and Broderick were expecting their first baby.
“After our pregnancy loss last year, we decided to start trying in early 2024. I knew my age could be a factor in conceiving, so Luke and I discussed going for an extra push, a little help,” she told People at the time. “In late summer, we decided to meet with a fertility specialist to learn about our options and what could be the next step if we decided to go that route. The next month was a whirlwind — getting educated on fertility, and eventually hormone shots and preparing my body for IUI (intrauterine insemination).”

Two weeks after undergoing the IUI procedure, the pair learned of their little one on the way.
“To get a correct outcome on a pregnancy test, two weeks’ time had to pass and I had to wait it out but in my heart I knew it had worked. I tested one day early and got the big PREGNANT result staring back at me,” she continued. “I was relieved, overwhelmed, happy, excited and nervous. The second I told Luke, he wasn’t surprised, but was SO happy that IUI worked the first time (we were prepared that it may not). He was joyful and beyond excited, to say the least! Our due date is in June and we are really looking forward to expanding our little family and becoming parents!”

Doute told Us in December 2024 that the duo “couldn’t be happier” to welcome a daughter, even though she initially believed they were having a boy. “I guessed wrong 100 percent of the time when it came to my friends’ pregnancies and not shockingly, I wasn’t right for mine either,” she quipped.
As for Broderick, Doute raved that he was “made to be a girl dad.”
