What’s Been Happening This Season?
Season 3 has been a slow but intense burn of sex, violence and secrets for all the guests and staff at The White Lotus.
The Ratliff family is on the brink of financial ruin, and no one knows except for patriarch Timothy. The disgraced businessman has been alternating between sneaking gulps of his wife Victoria’s missing Lorazepam and imagining shooting himself and various members of his family. (The gun Timothy stole from Gaitok was reclaimed in a previous episode, so he no longer has the means to shoot anyone.)
Meanwhile, Ratliff brothers Saxon and Lochlan are recovering from the drunken, incestuous threesome they shared with Chloe, Gary/Greg’s girlfriend. Chloe proposed another hookup, this time involving Gary, to Saxon, who declined and is trying to get closer to Chelsea. Lochlan, eager to escape his guilt and shame about the encounter, told his sister Piper that he was considering joining her at the Buddhist monastery, an idea that Piper was less than enthusiastic about.
Lifelong friends Laurie, Jaclyn, and Kate are all at odds after the revelation that Jaclyn slept with yoga instructor Valentin. Laurie responded by hooking up with Alexei, ultimately getting chased out of the Russian’s apartment by his angry girlfriend and spotting some jewelry stolen from the hotel.
Gaitok also put together the pieces about the robbery after spotting Alexei and Valentin at a Muay Thai fight he was attending with Mook. Meanwhile, their tentative romance seems doomed after he told Mook that he did not want to seek a promotion and become a bodyguard because of his devotion to the Buddhist principle of non-violence. Mook was disappointed, saying, “I thought you were more ambitious.”
Rick confronted Jim Hollinger, whom he believes murdered his father, and appeared to reach some kind of epiphany. But he left his devoted girlfriend Chelsea worrying about him at the hotel, and in spite of herself, Chelsea appears to be growing closer to Saxon.
Belinda sat down with “Gary,” who confirmed that he was Tanya’s (Jennifer Coolidge) husband Greg, but fled Italy after her suspicious death. He told Belinda that he had nothing to do with it, and offered her $100,000 for her silence about his identity. Belinda’s son Zion thinks she should take the money, but she has not yet decided what to do…
Will There Be a Season 4 of ‘The White Lotus’?
The White Lotus has already been greenlit for a fourth season, but White says it might take a little longer for the next one to grace our screens. We were supposed to start scouting [for a location for Season 4] in April, and I was like, ‘You guys, I haven’t been home in three years.’”
It sounds like White is hoping to take a well-deserved rest before embarking on the next White Lotus voyage.
