These Are the Biggest Hair Trends for Summer According to a Top Celebrity Hairstylist and Colorist (Exclusive)

New season, new you! If you’re in the mood to switch up your signature hair look, then you’re in luck. Celebrity hairstylist and colorist Dimitris Giannetos — who has worked with stars including Megan Fox, Amal Clooney and Gigi Hadid — exclusively gave Us all the details on the top trends for the season.

Of course, we had to get the scoop on what the hottest hue is. No, it’s not bronde, and the answer might very well surprise you: “Dark espresso is a gorgeous, rich, deep brown shade that nicely complements so many skin tones,” Giannetos reveals.

The mane master also spoke about how a certain nostalgic style is making waves again — one that will especially benefit individuals with finer strands — as well as the red-carpet-worthy ‘do that will make you feel as if you were a glamorous A-lister at the Cannes Film Festival.

Updos! Waves! Volume! When it comes to the Golden Globes, Hollywood’s biggest names never shy away from a glamorous hair moment. From Kiki Layne’s twisted updo in 2019 to Jessica Biel’s chignon accessory and Jessica Alba’s timeless beach waves in 2017, celebrities have gotten creative with their tresses through the years.  Lady Gaga served Us […]

Stylish Bobs

“A sleek jawline [cut] feels very high-fashion and dramatic, but requires more [salon visits] to maintain,” Giannetos says. (If you want something less fussy, opt for a “textured bob with soft waves.”) And no matter which short ’do you choose, don’t forget to lock strands in place with a trusty spritz, as the pro does on clients: “Whether I’m going for a straight and sleek [appearance] or effortless waves, I like to finish off with hairspray.”

The ‘French Riviera’ Blowout

“Voluminous, bouncy blowouts are always chic,” Giannetos says. “To achieve flowing, effortless waves, blowdry [tresses] with a [hair-smoothing hair dryer], a round brush and pin each strand until the curls cool down. Remove the pins and brush through the hair.”

The Classic Side Part

“This year, we’re seeing the return of side parts. On the runway and on the red carpet, [they] have become more popular,” notes Giannetos. It also serves as a helpful trick for those with fine or super-straight hair, he explains, as it leads to the illusion of more volume on top of the head. Bonus pro tip: Part hair to perfection while boosting shine with one of the expert’s favorite splurgeworthy combs.
