Sometimes, Hinge matches come back to haunt us.
Influencer Ken Eurich matched with a man on Hinge and exchanged a few messages back-and-forth with him. She thought nothing of it and went about her day. Her Hinge match then allegedly made a TikTok video about how he recognized her from the app and started watching her content — without naming her.
“I got to watch her videos and probably 80% of her videos are talking about Hinge dates or boyfriends or ex-boyfriends or something,” he said in his video, alluding to a reason he wouldn’t go out with this woman. “If I were to go on a date with this girl, I would be flamed in front of millions of girls.”
Toward the end of the TikTok, he mentioned that he watched “at least an hour” of Eurich’s videos — complimenting her humor — and said he was “kinda in love” with her.
Friends and fans of Eurich tagged her in the video since they had a feeling he was talking about her. Then, Eurich responded to the video, criticizing his “80 percent statistic,” and both videos went viral.
“I am not denying that I … talk about dating and my love life and boyfriends, and that has been a very big part of my brand,” Eurich, who has 1.6 million followers on the app, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “But the perception that I feel that people have of me is, ‘Oh, she’s just a girl talking about what makeup she’s wearing, what clothes she’s wearing, what boys she’s dating.’ I’m envisioning myself as being much more. There’s much more to me.”
“I’m so sad that that’s what my content comes across to him. He thinks it’s just about boys and dating. There’s so much more to me,” she adds.
Eurich confirms that the two shared a few messages on Hinge, but it never went past exchanging pleasantries. Eurich also mentions that the man hasn’t made contact with her since he posted his TikTok video.
“I do not think this man actually watched my content for an hour. I find it very weird that he was posting me, like, ‘Well, I think I’m in love,’ but if that was the case, you would have texted me on Hinge, like, ‘Hey, let’s go on a date,’ instead of making a TikTok about it,” Eurich says.

Much of her audience knew that the whole debacle was in good humor, with many of them commenting that while the man’s statistic was wrong, a good amount of Eurich’s content is about men — and that’s what they like about her.
“Specifically, my audience is playing into the joke,” she says. “I have that type of sense of humor with my audience, where they can make jokes and say, ‘Seriously, but you talk about men a lot, right? It’s light-hearted, and it’s funny, and you do talk about boys, but that’s what we love about you.’ That’s what my audience is doing; they can make a joke out of it and also say, ‘80% is still a little dramatic.’ ”
Since the TikTok exchange, Eurich says she still plans to make content about men, but admits she’s more conscious of what she posts now.
“I don’t think I ever have given it two thoughts before, but I am aware now. I was never aware when I was posting on TikTok. I don’t want to come across to my audience that posts about boys are all I’m offering,” she says.
The man in question did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
