I’ve drifted away from TVs in the past few years in favor of the awe-inspiring feeling I only get from watching movies and playing video games on a projector. I use a budget-friendly projector in the garage and a premium short-throw model in the family room, and I would fully recommend each for different setups.
Amazon is running a great deal on a portable projector that’s got even better brightness and technical specs than the one in my garage that I have zero complaints about after countless hours using it over the past couple years. Normally $400, you can snag the Lisowod L61 Pro Smart Projector for under $200 by combining two discounts.

The first detail I look for when researching affordable projectors — which I do pretty often for work — is the ANSI figure, which is a jargony way to describe the brightness level. The lower the number, the darker the room you’re watching in will need to be for a clear picture (especially if you want a picture that’s 100 inches or larger). Generally, the more expensive a projector is, the more ambient light you’ll be able to have in the room while using it.
The Lisowod L61 Pro has an ANSI rating of 1,200. To put that into perspective, the budget projector I use has a 600 ANSI rating, and I’ve used it to watch plenty of sports on a huge 150-inch screen with the garage door open and daylight pouring in. You’re getting twice the brightness for essentially the same price with this sale.
“Setting it up was a breeze, and, within minutes, I was blown away by the incredible picture quality,” wrote one Amazon reviewer. “The colors are vibrant, the brightness is impressive even in moderately lit rooms, and the 1080p resolution brings every detail to life.”
“The colors are super vibrant, and the details are sharp — even in a room that’s not completely dark,” wrote a second shopper. “For the price, it’s ridiculously good.”
This projector comes with Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video installed, while more streamers can be downloaded from its app section if you’ve got it connected to Wi-Fi. It’s got an HDMI input for hooking up your own streaming device, Blu-ray player, or gaming console. It also has a USB input and speaker inside for portable viewing. Since built-in speakers are notoriously wimpy even on pricey TVs, there’s a headphone jack I’d recommend connecting to a soundbar or home theater receiver.
You can beam the picture against any light-colored wall or sheet, but if you’re planning to set it up permanently, you might as well get a screen because they’re cheap, avoid wrinkles, and are pure white. I recommend this no-fuss 120-inch projector screen I’ve been using with my indoor projector (it’s on sale, too).
If you’re thinking of adding a projector to your setup, try this Lisowod L61 Pro Smart Projector while it’s more than half-off its usual cost. Shop a few more affordable projectors below, including an upgraded version of the Wimius model I use in my garage.
