Thomas Rhett is a proud girl dad to little ones who are finally starting to realize what their father does for a living.
“I don’t think that my kids really knew what I did until a couple years ago,” Rhett, 34, exclusively told Us Weekly at the Aaron Rodgers and RX3 2025 Charity Flag Football Tournament on Saturday, March 15. “Now, my older two love to travel with me and stay up late and watch the show and all that kind of stuff.”
The country singer and his wife, Lauren Akins, share daughters Willa Gray, 9, Ada James, 7, Lennon Love, 5, and Lillie Carolina, 3.
“It’s been fun getting to watch them dabble on piano or guitar or whatever,” Rhett told Us. “I don’t know if music is like a genetic pass-down type thing, but they love it and I don’t think they could care less if I played or not.”
All four Akins daughters cheered on Rhett as he competed in the RX3 flag football tournament on Saturday.
“I think they’re shocked,” Rhett quipped. “I don’t think they’ve ever seen me run.”
Rhett was a member of the team coached by Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
“I haven’t ran like that since I was 17 years old,” the musician told Us of the team’s “slow start” on the field. “It’s been a blast anytime you can be competitive and get to meet new people, and play football for an awesome cause. It doesn’t get any cooler than that.”
Rhett played in the event in support of nonprofit Love One International, which helps aid individuals in Uganda with life-saving medical care and family preservation.
“My wife has been on the board of an organization called Love One for about seven years,” he explained. “We adopted our first child from Uganda in 2017 and Uganda has always been a part of mine and my wife’s heart. I got to take my kids over there last year for the first time to actually get to watch, firsthand, what Love One does. In a nutshell, they take care of malnourished children in Gulu, Uganda, and they get to educate people on nutrition, health [and] simple things like what to eat [and] how to eat. I think things that we really take for granted living in North America.”
