Tina Knowles Reveals Her Favorite Part from Daughter Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour Opening Night: ‘This Moment!’

While there were many standout moments from the opening night of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour, proud mom Tina Knowles says a specific part tugged on her heart strings!

On Monday, April 28, Beyoncé, 43, kicked off her highly anticipated tour at SoFi stadium in Los Angeles. The next day, Knowles shared on Instagram that she was in awe of the moment Beyoncé’s daughters, Blue Ivy and Rumi, joined her onstage.

“Oh my God this moment!! The tears, the love the protection. It’s one of my favorite songs on the record. Because it talks about allowing your children to grow and to shine on their own, but still being a protector,“ Knowles, 71, wrote, alongside an image that captured Rumi, Beyoncé and Blue Ivy embracing each other on stage.

During the special moment, Beyoncé sang “Protector” from Cowboy Carter, her Grammy-winning album. While Beyoncé sang the lyrics, Rumi, 7 ½, jumped up and down and excitedly waved to the audience.

“Give it up for Rumi, y’all,” the mom of three said, while fighting back tears.

While this was Rumi’s first time onstage with her mom, her older sister, 13, is becoming a performing veteran in her own right. Throughout the night, Blue Ivy danced in several routines – including “America Has a Problem,” “Formation,” “Deja Vu” and more. Blue Ivy also joined her mom onstage during the Renaissance World Tour in 2023 and was featured in the documentary released in theaters that December.

As for Beyoncé and Jay Z’s son, Sir, he was seen in a rare home video footage displayed on the big screen.

On April 22, Knowles released her memoir, Matriarch, detailing her upbringing, raising her daughters Beyoncé and Solange, and her trials and tribulations. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Knowles admitted that she almost didn’t write her book out of respect for her children’s privacy.

“I didn’t want to write a book because I thought [people] only want to know all my kids’ business. They’re not going to be interested in me.” Knowles told PEOPLE for the World’s Most Beautiful issue. “I’ve lived this incredible life, and you really don’t realize it until you start writing everything down.”

“I started, probably about 12 years ago, just recording my story, which I think everyone should do, for my great grandchildren, because for some reason, I just started thinking about the fact that I never met my grandparents and the history that I gathered for my mom.”

Night two of Cowboy Carter Tour will take place on Thursday, May 1, at SoFi Stadium. The tour will wrap up in Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium on July 26.
