Todd Chrisley Officially Released From Prison, Is on His Way Home After Presidential Pardon

Todd Chrisley is officially a free man after being released from prison, Us Weekly can confirm.

“Todd has been released from prison and is on his way home to Nashville,” Todd’s lawyer told Us in a statement on Wednesday, May 28, noting, “We are awaiting word on Julie Chrisley.”

News broke on Tuesday, May 28, that President Donald Trump planned to pardon Todd and Julie after they were convicted of fraud in 2022.

“It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean,” Trump said in a phone call to the couple’s 27-year-old daughter, Savannah. “I hope we can do it by tomorrow. I don’t know them, but give them my regards. Wish them a good life.”

Savannah, one of Todd and Julie’s four children together, had been out running errands when she received Trump’s message.

“The president called me personally as I was walking into Sam’s Club,” Savannah said in an Instagram video shared later on Tuesday. “Both my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow, and I still don’t believe it’s real. The fact that the president called me, I will forever be grateful for President Trump, his administration and everyone along the way.”

At the time, Savannah noted that she was starting to organize her parents’ bedroom and closet for their forthcoming return.

Savannah reiterated her excitement about the pardon in a statement shared with Us Weekly.

“For the past two and a half years, I’ve done everything in my power to fight for my parents’ freedom and bring them home,” Savannah said in her statement. “This moment is the answer to countless prayers, and I am beyond grateful to President Trump for seeing the truth and restoring my family.”

She continued, “I also want to thank Alice Marie Johnson for her unwavering support and our attorney, Alex Little, for being an essential part of this process. Today is a victory for our family, but the fight against wrongful convictions and injustice within our prison system is far from over. I will continue to use my voice and platform to advocate for those who do not have one. Family is everything to me, and I will never stop fighting for what is right.”

Todd and Julie were charged in 2019 with several counts of bank and wire fraud and tax evasion. While the Chrisley Knows Best couple maintained their innocence, they were each found guilty after a 2022 trial. Todd and Julie were sentenced to 12 and seven years in prison, respectively, with additional probation requirements. Their sentences were lessened in 2024 after a court appeal.

After Todd and Julie reported to prison, Savannah was granted custody of siblings Grayson, now 19, and Chloe, now 12. (Todd, who also shares son Chase with Julie, is also father to two older children from a previous marriage. His son Kyle is Chloe’s birth father.)

“Chloe, I think, is still in shock. She doesn’t want to get her hopes up because she feels like something bad is going to is going to happen,” Savannah said on NewsNation’s On Balance on Tuesday, referring to her sister, whom Todd and Julie adopted in 2016. “I’m excited to be going to get my dad and bringing him home to her. We’re excited.”
