Earlier in February, Tony Hawk took to his Instagram Story to share a photo of an old concert stub.
The ticket granted entry to an October 1991 Nirvana concert.
“Went straight from S.U.A.S. event at Houston Skatepark to this concert in 1991,” Hawk wrote. “It was as transformative as live music can possible be. We all experienced something rare and powerful that night. The world would never be the same.”
The legendary skateboarder then shared a wish he had for the late Kurt Cobain, who died three years later in 1994.

“I wish Kurt were here so he could see the incredible woman his daughter has become, meet her devoted, caring husband, and hold our wondrous grandchild,” Hawk wrote.
Tony’s son Riley Hawk is married to Kurt’s daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.

In a February 17 Instagram post, Tony, who has called being a grandparent “so much fun,” shared a photo of himself and his grandson as the pair scooted around his home on a skateboard.
“What happens when all of your kids can skate on their own and no longer rely on you to give them rides? You wait until they have their own kids. Circles (wheels?) of life,” he wrote.
In the comments, fans marveled over the fact that he and Cobain share a grandchild. “Tony Hawk and Kurt Cobain having the same grandson is so 90s,” one commenter read,” while another added, “Tony Hawk teaching Kurt Cobain’s grandson how to skate. 😍.”
A third social media user wrote, “I’m so glad these two kids met! Kurt would have loved Tony.”

Riley and Frances have kept their family and their son out of the public eye since his birth.
In November 2024, Frances called Ronin her “true love.” “My (world),” Riley added.
Tony exclusively told Us in February that he and his wife, Catherine Goodman get to see Ronin “almost every day,” adding that he’s “just thankful” that Riley and Frances are “happy.”

“Honestly, I’m not that focused on the bloodline. I mean, it’s a very cool thing, but I don’t want Ronin to feel any pressure from that,” Tony told Us, referring to the baby’s famous grandparents.
“He is the most fun and he is very alert,” he continued. “He’s very happy and that’s really all we can hope for — and that Frances and Riley are healthy and happy themselves, too, because they’ve both been through a lot. I’m so excited to see Ronin grow up.”
