Tony Winner Ali Stroker Reveals She Suffered a Miscarriage in January: ‘Knocked Me Off My Feet’

Ali Stroker has been navigating a “tough season” while dealing with fertility issues.

“It’s been a tough season. I honestly have wanted to hide and not share anything about my life,” Stroker, 37, wrote via Instagram on Friday, April 25. “But these are the moments that I need to practice what I preach and have the courage to be vulnerable. This past January, I had a miscarriage that surprised me and knocked me off my feet.”

According to the Tony Award winner, she “lost a job that meant so much” to her less than one month later.

“I had thought I knew what the future would hold, and in 30 days was brought to my knees with grief and confusion,” Stroker said. “I’m taking the next 30 days to do a self care project/promise/experiment. I’m curious as to what will happen and where this next season will take me. Right now, I’m CHOOSING (because damn I definitely don’t want) to put myself out there in a scary time. I don’t know what’s next and I want to say HERE I AM.”

It has been a difficult road to parenthood for many celebrity parents, including Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. After in vitro fertilization didn’t work on the first try, Teigen wondered if she had done something wrong. “You just look for anything to blame, especially yourself,” Teigen explained to New York Magazine’s The Cut in April […]

Stroker, who previously had a cameo on Glee after a scene-stealing turn on Oxygen’s Glee Project competition show, found support from her former costars in the comments section.

“Love you, sending lots of love and healing growing energy your way,” Jenna Ushkowitz replied. “You are such a light.”

The Glee Project’s Aylin Bayramoglu added, “Thank you for sharing your vulnerability with us. I love you always and forever. I’m always rooting for you. ❤️❤️.”

Other members of the Broadway community — Stroker won a Tony for her performance in the recent revival Oklahoma! after appearing in 2019’s reimagined Spring Awakening — also rallied around the actress.

Glee introduced the world to quite a talented group of actors when musical comedy-drama debuted on Fox in 2009. It was Ryan Murphy‘s third series, following teen drama Popular and dark medical drama Nip/Tuck. The series focused on the William McKinley High School glee club, the New Directions, as they tried to balance choir competition […]

“You are singular and bright, and I love you and have loved you since the day we met. You’re a hero,” her former Spring Awakening costar Sean Grandillo wrote. “I am so sorry for the pain and the grief and grateful that fate put your path across mine. Onward and UPward for you and yours.”

Stroker and her husband, David Perlow, previously welcomed son Jesse in November 2022.

“He’s ready to take off, [so] we went out for a drive on this gorgeous fall day,” Stroker previously told Us Weekly exclusively in November 2023 of her bond with her son. “Who knew they were giving out licenses to kids these days? He’s a better driver than me!”
