Washington Commanders’ Jeremy Reaves Proposes to Girlfriend on the Field After Clinching Playoffs

The Washington Commanders clinching their first playoff berth in four years was just an appetizer for what safety Jeremy Reaves had cooking. 

Reaves, 28, proposed to girlfriend Mikaela Worthy on the field at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, on Sunday, December 29, right after the Commanders defeated the Atlanta Falcons 30-24 in overtime. 

The entire proposal was captured by a Commanders fan on social media, which saw Reaves pull Worthy from the stands before dropping to one knee and pulling out a ring. 

Worthy, clearly surprised, covered her mouth and knelt to the ground before saying “yes” and giving Reaves a kiss, much to the delight of the raucous crowd. 

Reaves wiped Worthy’s tears away as the two embraced and attempted to take in the spectacular, surreal moment. 

The next morning, Reaves posted an emotional tribute to his new fiancée on social media. 

“A year ago I was at one of my lowest,” Reaves shared via Instagram on Monday, December 30. “A year later, you helped get me back to my best! Everytime life tore me down, you built me right back up and spoke life into me!”

In October 2023, Reaves had surgery to repair a partially torn ACL, which occurred in the Commanders’ Week 4 game against the Chicago Bears. Reaves would miss the remainder of the season. 

“You carried the weight when I couldn’t during some tough days (all that PA school definitely came in handy lol!),” Reaves joked about the physician’s assistant degree Worthy earned last spring. “God makes no mistakes, and he gave me you when I needed you most! 8+ years of friendship, a lifetime to go as one! I meant it when I said 5life! I love you Mikaela R Worley PA-C❤️.”

Reaves and Worthy first went public with their relationship in July 2023, sharing pictures via Instagram from a vacation to Pensacola Springs, Florida. 

“Football wifeee in route 👀,” one of the comments read at the time.

Worthy has been a regular at Commanders games this season, which she reflected on via Instagram after the Thanksgiving holiday. 

“So much to be thankful for this year🙏🏼these pictures don’t even begin to include everyone I’m grateful for… just know i love you all🥹,” Worthy shared on November 28 alongside a carousel of photos, most of which included Reaves. 

With their win over the Falcons on Sunday, the Commanders clinched a playoff berth. Washington will close out the regular season on Sunday, January 5, against the Dallas Cowboys before the NFL Wild Card Playoffs kick off on Saturday, January 11.
