We Tried It: ‘The White Lotus’ Coffee Mate Creamer

The White Lotus is headed to Thailand this year, and Coffee mate is giving fans a taste of the lush scenery and lavish lifestyle with new coffee creamers in honor of the hit HBO series.

Available in grocery stores nationwide for a limited time, Coffee mate’s The White Lotus Thai Iced Coffee Flavored Creamer and Piña Colada Flavored Creamer are priced at $4.49 each, making a perfect pairing for pick-me-up just in time for season 3 of the series, which premieres on HBO on Sunday, February 16.

In the latest edition of Us Weekly’s We Tried It, Associate Editor Nicole Massabrook and Assistant Editor Molly McGuigan taste-tested both flavors of the new creamers, and were pleasantly surprised.

Beginning with the Thai Iced Coffee flavor, Molly immediately noted, “It’s not too sweet, which I was a little worried about,” while Nicole gave some context for the Thai coffee tradition.

“Thai coffee is typically a really strong brewed coffee with sweetened condensed milk,” she said. “It is very much just meant to complement the coffee.”

While the editors sipped on French press-brewed coffee, they noted that this flavor in particular would likely be best paired with an iced coffee — especially if fans are lucky enough to be sipping on it poolside, like the characters in the show.

Next up, Nicole and Molly approached the Piña Colada flavor with some hesitation, but ultimately favored the unique pairing.

“It definitely smells like piña colada, which had me a little fearful for the first sip because you don’t generally want to mix a piña colada into your coffee,” Nicole noted. “But this actually is a very nice complementary flavor.”

Mike White’s anthology series The White Lotus is returning for another star-studded season. “Reflecting on [the show’s] humble, run-and-gun origin as a contained pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be awestruck by how Mike orchestrated one of the buzziest and most critically acclaimed shows,” Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, Francesca Orsi, told Variety in […]

She continued: “I will say, I’m very surprised by these. I was concerned.”

Molly agreed, sharing that while the flavor is present, “it’s definitely not overwhelming you,” and Nicole added that the creamer is definitely “coconut-forward.”

One can definitely conjure up images of the cast of season 3 — which includes Leslie Bibb, Carrie Coon, Walton Goggins, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Aimee Lou Wood — sipping on these flavored coffees, and Molly notes that it “sounds like they’re going to need it this season.”

Mike White, the creator, writer and director of the HBO series, teased that the third season will be “much, much darker” than the two that preceded it in a January 2025 interview with TIME.

Sharing that this season is “dealing with these existential tropes of facing into the nothingness of self” and “Buddhist themes that have life and death and ethical aspects,” White describes season 3 as “more heavy.”

“So they’re gonna need some piña coladas,” Molly joked after reviewing the flavored coffee.

“They’re going to need several piña coladas,” Nicole added.

The White Lotus season 3 premieres on HBO and streams on Max Sunday, February 16 at 9 p.m. ET.
