  • Ethan also shared his concerns about why Zac agreed to Lydia’s request to save their first kiss for their wedding day

Only hours after Zac Wyse and Lydia Plath got engaged, her brothers Ethan and Micah Plath confronted Zac with concerns about the couple’s decision to get married so soon in the newest episode of Welcome to Plathville.

In the Tuesday, Aug. 12, episode, Zac proposed to Lydia after two months of dating. Before their proposal, Ethan, 27, was vocal about the pace of the couple’s relationship.

As Lydia, 21, arrived at her proposal, she hugged her family and walked toward Zac, 23, Ethan made one last-ditch effort. “Please say no,” Ethan said as Zac asked Lydia to marry him.

Two hours after she said yes, Zac joined Ethan and Micah, 24, for a chat about the newly engaged couple’s relationship. Before their conversation, Micah and Ethan explained to the camera how they’re “going to feel [Zac] out and ask him some questions, and see if we can make him crack.”

Micah then said in his confessional that he doesn’t know Zac “at all,” adding, “I know my dad didn’t grill him that hard, and I feel like maybe Ethan and I should.”

The scene cut back to Ethan and Micah discussing the new engagement, with Ethan noting, “Lydia’s like the whole world is in ministry in the church, and that’s wonderful.”

“But I don’t think that Zac and Lydia were divinely put together by God and there’s no one else. And it was just destined and intended to be,” Ethan continued.

“When in reality, it’s, it’s just a crush. And you’re probably making the crush bigger by not kissing or doing anything —” Micah said before Ethan cut him off.

“They don’t really know each other,” Ethan said. “I mean, like Lydia said, he’s a nice guy, but I mean, Lydia wouldn’t know any better.”

“Lydia’s like the sweetest person ever. I don’t want I don’t want her to change,” Micah said. “I don’t want to see Lydia get heartbroken at all.”

After the two brothers chat about the relationship, Zac arrived.

“I just wanted to let you know that as Lydia’s bigger brother, I know you make Lydia happy, and that’s what matters to me,” Micah told him. “But if I ever find out that, you know, you did anything to hurt her or anything like that. [If] you ever let her down or anything, there will be consequences.”

Ethan followed that up by asking why their relationship moved “so damn fast,” adding, “There’s more to lose in my opinion than there is to gain by getting married very quickly. And I just don’t want Lydia to be hurt.”

Zac then told them how he and Lydia got to know each other well when she visited him for five days in Colorado. But Ethan remained unimpressed, explaining in his confessional, “I don’t know what psychedelics you’re on, but the fact is, you still only spent a week with her. And I don’t like it. And I object.”

As their conversation continued, the two brothers pressed Zac about his commitment to save his and Lydia’s first kiss for their wedding. Zac didn’t expect to do that, but decided to “because of who Lydia is, it changed my heart and was like, yeah, no, that’s something I really do want to commit to, to honor her… A lot of that’s tied to the core belief that we do have in Jesus Christ.”

Ethan then shared his thoughts, telling the camera that he expected Zac to say, “We said that we’re going to save her first kiss. But, you know, if I’m being completely honest, I kind of I really want to.”

Ethan also reiterated the thought during the onsite confessional, telling Micah and the camera, “But I don’t think it’s honest to say I’m not kissing her because you know of the… seven fruits of whatever. Aww, f— off you big holy bastard. I think that’s a bulls— answer.”

“I just want to make sure that there’s actually a physical compatibility and passion for each other, you know,” Ethan told Zac.

In his confessional, Zac said he and Lydia chose to save their kiss because “in previous relationships, it has become a distraction for [him],” explaining, “I’ve seen physical intimacy get in the way of truly getting to know someone, and so we’re doing it differently.”

“I’ve never in my life met a straight man who voluntarily gives up the opportunity to be intimate with a woman,” Ethan said in his confessional. “It just doesn’t compute in my own mind, especially as a young man.”

Ethan replied, telling Zac everything that he and Lydia have said is “great and sounds amazing,” but he has a question for him. As the episode ends, Ethan asked, “Are you gay?”
