Phoebe Gates is stepping more into the spotlight after releasing a podcast under Alex Cooper’s Unwell Network.
Phoebe, who is the youngest daughter of Bill Gates and Melinda Gates, launched “The Burnouts” with friend and business partner Sophia Kianni in April 2025. The podcast centers around how Phoebe and Kianni are getting their startup, Phia, off the group after graduating from Stanford University.
“The point of this show is not really to be polished. It’s not a buttoned-up business plan,” Phoebe told People in April 2025, adding she gets “so nervous” before filming. “I’m like, ‘Should we even be saying this stuff?’”
The startup founder graduated in June 2024 from Stanford University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in human biology in only three years. Melinda was the guest speaker during the graduation ceremony.
“I knew I had to make it happen if I could, because I wanted to watch my mother deliver this year’s commencement speech as a graduate,” Phoebe shared with Nylon at the time. “I can’t think of a better ending!”

Phoebe graduated from Stanford in 2024 with a bachelor of science in human biology and a minor in African studies. Her mom delivered the commencement speech on her graduation day.
“It’s the end of one chapter, and beginning of another, and it was such a privilege to have this time with our family and friends to celebrate this,” Phoebe told Nylon in June 2024.

Phoebe and her former Stanford roommate, Kianni, are in the process of launching a new online fashion platform called Phia in 2025.
“Sophia and I are first-time founders, and learning as we go,” Phoebe told People in November 2024. “With Phia’s beta, we’re building with our customers, so we can deliver a product that ultimately makes them the smartest shoppers in the room.”

Phoebe Gates Launched a New Podcast Under Alex Cooper’s Unwell Network
Phoebe and friend/cofounder, Kianni, debuted their new podcast, “The Burnouts,” under Cooper’s Unwell Network. Throughout the podcast, Phoebe and Kianni will get candid about getting their startup, Phia, up and running as well as featuring advice from mentors, experts and surprise guests such as Kim Kardashian, who is featured on the first episode.
“Our dream listener is the girl who’s grinding, she’s moving up the ladder, she’s working hard, she’s falling down and getting back up,” Phoebe told People in April 2025. “And she’s listening in her AirPods on the way to work.”
Phoebe Gates Has Been Very Vocal About Reproductive Freedom
Throughout the years, Phoebe has continued to be vocal about using her platform to support reproductive freedom. She has donated millions of dollars to abortion rights groups and even coproduced Everybody’s Fight: An In Bloom Series alongside Karlie Kloss, a series that looked at the impact of reproductive health restrictions.
“I think that choice is a fundamental freedom upon which all other freedoms are built,” she told People in October 2024. “Our generation of women is now less free than those before us. How could I ever accept that? I won’t and I know I’m in good company. … The way you use your voice and your privilege really, really matters.”
