- Jason Isaacs has been married to Emma Hewitt since 2001
- The couple share two daughters
- Hewitt is an actress, director and writer
The White Lotus star Jason Isaacs has been with his wife Emma Hewitt for decades.
The couple met while in drama school in the 1980s and wed in 2001. Since then, they’ve welcomed two daughters: Lily and Ruby.
The Harry Potter actor auditioned for London’s The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama on a whim — but he’s grateful he did, since it brought the couple together.
“I’d never known anyone who worked in the arts or even had an artistic hobby. But it was only a tenner to audition and I’m embarrassingly competitive so I thought, f— it, let’s see if I could have got in somewhere. Just for a laugh,” he told The Big Issue in August 2020. “I’m glad I did, not least because I met my wife Emma at Central and without her … Without her there is no me that I recognize or would want to know.”
So, who is Jason Isaacs’ wife? Here’s everything to know about Emma Hewitt and her relationship with the Emmy-nominated actor.
Hewitt is an actress, director and writer
After meeting Isaacs at drama school, Hewitt went on to have a career in entertainment. She acted in shows like Casualty (1990) and Jeeves and Wooster (1993), and directed the docuseries Starstruck (2000), which explored the lives of famous actors like Anjelica Huston, Richard Dreyfuss, Saffron Burrows and Willem Dafoe.
Her most recent credit on IMDb is appearing in the 2004 documentary The Model, The Poster and 3,000 Women, which examined the iconic “L’Enfant” poster and the lasting impact it had on British culture.
In a June 2025 post on her Substack, Hewitt revealed that over the last 20 years, she’s been a “a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a traveler, a dog wrangler, a personal assistant to small children and a sometimes famous man.”
However, recently, she’s written a book — which she penned, in part, on the set of The White Lotus — and is now regularly posting on her Substack, Plus One.
“I’m working on finding a voice that feels like mine,” she wrote. “After so long standing next to other people’s spotlights, I’m trying to find the center of my own story. Or maybe just remember who I am — or figure it out for the first time.”
They met in drama school
Isaacs and Hewitt met while training to become actors at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in the 1980s. They recognize that fact by celebrating their anniversary on the day they met, not their wedding date.
“Our real anniversary was Halloween,” Isaacs said on the Table Manners podcast in May 2025. “We were at drama school together and we went to a stage manager’s party and we got behind these Venetian blinds and we started snogging. And that is, for us, the night we became the couple.”
However, their classmates didn’t exactly have faith in the coupling. “People were taking bets we wouldn’t last the week, and here we are in a new millennium,” he told The Guardian in May 2013.
They got married in 2001
On the Table Manners podcast in May 2025, Isaacs shared the circumstances that led to him marrying Hewitt. In 2001, the couple were expecting their first child and living in Los Angeles. However, Hewitt — who was born in the United Kingdom — got sick and didn’t have healthcare coverage.
“She’d been sick, had lung problems, and we wanted to fly home,” he said. “I phoned my brother, who’s a doctor, and he put us on to a lung specialist. The guy said you need to go to a hospital and have a check for pulmonary embolism right now, because you shouldn’t get on a plane, because she’s had two courses of antibiotics.”
He continued, saying, “I get [Screen Actors Guild] insurance, so we went to a registry office in Los Angeles, and then we went straight to the ER.”
For the big day, Isaacs wore “jeans, Vans and my “fancy” T-shirt, which was knit and had a 1960s-style pattern,” he told The Times in May 2025.
“It wasn’t a big wedding, we got married in a register office,” he continued.
They have two daughters
Hewitt and Isaacs share two daughters: Lily, whom they welcomed in 2002, and Ruby, who was born in 2005.
Hewitt’s daughters growing up inspired her to start writing again. “Here’s what I need to say about those plus-one years: They contained the wild, frantic joy of my children,” she wrote in her June 2025 Substack post. “The love-at-first-sight, heart-stopping love I never imagined possible.”
The girls remain private, but attend red carpets with their parents from time to time. However, when he received his Emmy nomination for The White Lotus in August 2025, his daughters weren’t exactly impressed.
“I went to Montreal for a couple of days to put my daughter’s shelves up, and put pictures up, and blinds, and take her shopping and get furniture for [her] apartment,” he said. “That’s all she cares about — and that’s all she should care about with your parents. They’re not remotely impressed by what I do for a living.”
Hewitt and their children joined Isaacs while filming The White Lotus
In a February 2025 interview with The Guardian, Isaacs revealed that he brought his wife to Thailand during filming of The White Lotus season 3, where she witnessed the series’ behind-the-scenes drama firsthand.
“I was, in some ways, used to it,” Isaacs said, “But within a couple of weeks my wife went, ‘Some of these people are f—— mad.’ I said, ‘No, it’s just a bunch of actors away on location, love. You’ve forgotten what it’s like.’ ”
Hewitt has also been open about the transformative time abroad. She penned part of her book there, she wrote in a July 2025 Substack post, and bonded with other wives and girlfriends of The White Lotus season 3 actors.
“We weren’t just filling time while they worked, we were supporting them through it,” she wrote. “The conditions were tough, unrelenting heat, long hours, tensions that simmered under the surface. We saw the exhaustion behind the performances, the frayed nerves, the moments when they weren’t sure they could keep going. And we were there, keeping them tethered, absorbing their stress, helping them walk back from the edge when they needed it.”
The couple’s daughters joined them for part of filming, Isaacs told British Airways’ High Life in January 2025. There, the family explored everywhere from Khao Sok National Park to local street markets.
“My daughters had researched what stalls to go to on social media, so I was going, ‘This looks great,’ and they’d say, ‘No, no, no, Dad,’ and we’d fight 200 yards through the crowd and sit down somewhere else,” he said. “Then someone local would say, ‘How did you find this place? It’s the best seafood in Thailand.’ I’d say, ‘Oh OK’ – and I’d give my daughters some credit.”
