Why Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ Costar Kerry Condon Drank Vodka for Breakfast Ahead of Filming Romantic Scenes

Kerry Condon detailed her steamy scenes with F1 costar Brad Pitt ahead of the sports drama’s theatrical release.

Condon, 42, appeared on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to talk about her experience working on the film with the Academy Award winner on Tuesday, June 17.

“Not to give too much away, but you and Brad have a little love interest there,” host Stephen Colbert said, to which Condon responded, “That’s OK, we can say there’s a bit of romance in the movie.”

“Was that part of the draw in any way? I mean, it was pleasant, I imagine,” Colbert, 61, asked.

The audience hooted and hollered after the comedian made the comment.

“It was acting. I realize you’re acting, but there [were] some full-contact snuggles,” he added.

Condon then explained that the shoot took place very early in the morning, and she decided to have some liquid courage.

“They scheduled it for [8:30] on a Thursday morning. I was like, ‘Ah, come on.’ So I had a vodka orange juice for my breakfast that morning,” she recalled.

“And you rough him up a little bit too,” Colbert pointed out.

Condon replied, “Well, you know, we were supposed to be in Vegas, and we’re supposed to be on a night out or whatever. Anyways, you’re giving it all away.”

Colbert joked that his conversation with Condon was “moving tickets,” encouraging people to go see F1.

The actress also spoke a little bit about the character she plays in the film, which will be released in theaters on Friday, June 27.

“I play the team technical director, who’s basically like — if you don’t know anything about F1, I’m basically in charge of the car,” Condon explained.

Amid Condon’s press tour for F1, she shot down rumors that she was interested in making a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a live-action F.R.I.D.A.Y. role. She previously voiced F.R.I.D.A.Y., an artificial intelligence technology, in multiple Marvel films over the last decade.

“It’s not true. I saw that and I was like, ‘Who’s saying these things?’” Condon said while chatting with Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday. “There’s no chance [it could happen]. But at the moment, it’s not in the cards for me.”

Next on her list of upcoming projects, Condon is set to appear in Pressure, a British war film starring Andrew Scott, Brendan Fraser, Chris Messina, Damian Lewis and Con O’Neill.

“In the 72 hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element – the British weather. Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg (Scott) is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership,” the film’s synopsis says. “The wrong conditions could devastate the largest ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on.”

The synopsis continues, “With only his trusted aide Captain Kay Summersby (Condon) to confide in, and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D. Eisenhower (Fraser). With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance.”
