Wicked: For Good Director Jon M. Chu Teases “Consequences” for Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo’s Characters

Jon M. Chu has some proper ploys in store for Wicked: For Good.

Indeed, the director recently shared what fans of the first film, which premiered in November, can expect for Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba and Ariana Grande’s Glinda in the upcoming 2026 installment (which has already been filmed).

“If movie one is about choices,” Jon teased to E! News in an exclusive interview, “movie two is about consequences.”

That is, fans won’t have to imagine how Ariana’s Glinda and Cynthia’s Elphaba are truly happy (or not) in the next installment. As for Cynthia’s recent admission that she penned a song for her character for the sequel? Jon remained tight-lipped on the subject, only emphasizing that Glinda and Cynthia’s relationship will be at the forefront of the film.

“There may be a couple new songs,” he continued. “I’ll neither confirm nor deny those reports. And now that people are really invested in this relationship, I’m really excited for them to see how this relationship unfolds.” (For more about what’s in store for your favorite Wicked characters and from Jon, tune in to E!
