Will Forte Jokes He’s an ‘Old Man Dad’ and Shares Which of His The Four Seasons Castmates Gave Him Parenting Advice (Exclusive)

Will Forte is welcoming parenting advice from all of his castmates.

On Thursday, April 24, at the New York premiere for his latest comedy series The Four Seasons, the Saturday Night Live alum, 54, spoke with PEOPLE exclusively about being a father to two little girls, Cecilia, 2½, and Zoe, 4, whom he shares with wife Olivia Modling.

“First of all, it’s been so fun. I’m kind of old man dad. My kids are 4 and 2½, so to share… I’ve always known [Tina Fey’s] kids, and to get to share my family with her was a really special thing,” Forte tells PEOPLE.

When Forte was asked if Fey, whose two daughters, Penelope, 13, and Alice, 19, are much older than his two daughters, offered him any parenting advice, the dad of two reveals that all of his The Four Seasons cast members with kids were “chiming in.”

“There were so many great people on this cast. Everyone has kids,” he tells PEOPLE. “Steve [Carell] gave me a bunch of great advice, [and] Kerri [Kenney-Silver]. Everyone with kids was chiming in.”

In December 2021, the Last Man on Earth star made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! where he showed off the adorable present he received while celebrating his first Father’s Day. The proud dad was gifted pink socks covered with pictures of his daughter’s smiling face along with the phrase “Fav Kid” printed in blue — and he was wearing them during the show.

“This little baby right here,” Forte said to host Jimmy Kimmel, showing off his personalized socks. “These are my lucky socks. My Father’s Day present from Zoe.”

After the arrival of his first daughter, the MacGruber actor shared with PEOPLE exclusively that he was loving every minute of parenthood.

“It’s so fun,” Forte said. “It starts as the best thing in the world and then just gets better and better.”

While he can’t imagine life without his little girls, Forte didn’t know if he’d get the chance to be a dad.

“I thought I would’ve been a dad when I was 25 or 26. I’ve always been very excited about it,” Forte told PEOPLE. “Then you start living your life and you realize that it’s all out of your control. At a certain point, I almost gave up on it. I just thought, ‘Oh, well, maybe it’s not in the cards for me.’ ”

“And thank God all the stars aligned and I met this wonderful woman, Olivia,” he continued. “And now we have this little Zoe who’s the best.”
