Season 2 of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders ended with an iconic performance, a groundbreaking pay raise and some bittersweet goodbyes.

After it was first released on Netflix in June 2024, the docuseries quickly gained a large audience of fans. Not only did it land a spot in the streaming platform’s top 10, but it also sparked a nationwide fascination with the cheer squad, from an influx of TikTok users recreating their “Thunderstruck” routine to Chrissy Teigen parodying the audition process with her daughters.

The highly anticipated second season was released on Netflix on June 18, spotlighting a new group of hopeful rookies and returning veterans vying for a coveted place on the team. Alongside the intense audition and training camp process, the season also explored deeper storylines, including the fight for higher pay, one veteran’s alopecia journey and a rule-breaking incident that shook the team.

By the end of the season, several veterans hung up their uniforms and marked the end of their chapter with the iconic team. Meanwhile, many other team members announced their plans to re-audition for the 2025-2026 season, leaving viewers eager to see how their journeys continue — and find out whether any now-open spots will be filled by rookie candidates who didn’t make the cut in season 2.

So, will there be a season 3 of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders? Here’s everything to know about the Netflix docuseries’ next chapter.

Will there be a season 3 of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders?

As of June 2025, America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders has yet to be renewed for a third season.

The good news: season 2 wasn’t officially confirmed until November 2024, meaning there’s still plenty of time for the show’s renewal.

Who would be in the cast of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season 3?

Given that America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season 3 has yet to be officially renewed, there’s no official confirmation on who might return as part of the cast.

While the cast is largely dependent on who makes the team, viewers can likely expect DCC mainstays such as director Kelli Finglass, head choreographer Judy Trammell and Dallas Cowboys’ executive vice president and chief brand officer Charlotte Jones to return.

Which Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders retired in season 2?

By the end of season 2, several veterans announced their retirement during uniform returns, including Armani Latimer, Jada Mclean, Amanda Howard and Chandi Dayle.

Fifth-year veteran Latimer shared it was time for “a new chapter” and that she wanted to be part of things “happening on the outside,” while fifth-year veteran Mclean said although she would “do this forever” if she could, she had to be “realistic” that this was only a short part of her life.

Mclean added, “I’m sad, but it’s a bittersweet sadness. It’s just sad that it all is over, but I’m very happy with how the last five years have gone, and I’m at a place where I need to see what’s next in life.”

As for Howard, the third-year veteran said she was exiting because of “the way some things were handled throughout the year.”

Howard had been partially leading the fight for higher pay, and was “disappointed” by how the “contract situation” played out, noting that she felt her relationship dynamic with Finglass and Trammell had shifted.

“It broke my heart because I just want to feel worth and value,” she told the two. “I feel like I don’t feel that here, unfortunately, and so it’s time for the next chapter.”

While many of these alumni won’t be part of the DCC squad, retired veterans from season 1 — including Victoria Kalina and Kelcey Wetterberg — made brief appearances in season 2. If season 3 follows suit, some retired veterans may make brief returns to the show if renewed.

Which cast members from season 2 returned for auditions in 2025?

Several veterans and rookies were excited to share in uniform returns that they would be re-auditioning for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders 2025-2026 season.

Rookies Madie Krueger, Charly Barby, Kelly Villares, Ava Haley and Abby Summers, along with veterans Reece Weaver and Megan McElaney, announced that they would come back to audition.

While not every member’s decision was shown, the official Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Instagram shared a photo from training camp for the 2025-2026 season that included many more familiar faces, including Sophy Laufer, Kleine Powell and Ariel Brumfield.

A separate Instagram post revealed that rookie candidates Jenna Waller and Cooper Maas, who were cut in season 2, had made it to training camp once again.

Time will tell whether the returning veterans and rookies made it past training camp and earned their spot on the roster for the 2025-2026 NFL season.

When would season 3 of America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders be released?

With no official confirmation for America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season 3, there is no expected release date. However, the first two seasons were released in June 2024 and June 2025, respectively, so it’s likely a third season would follow suit for a summer 2026 release.
