Will There Be a Season 3 of NCIS: Sydney? Here’s What We Know After that Season 2 Reveal

Prepare for another season down under!

While NCIS: Sydney season 2 came to a dramatic conclusion on April 25, it has already been renewed for season 3. The show, which is a spinoff from the hit police procedural NCIS, was confirmed for a third season in February 2025.

The series follows NCIS Special Agents Michelle Mackey (Olivia Swann) and DeShawn Jackson (Sean Sagar) as they work with members of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) — including Sergeant Jim “JD” Dempsey (Todd Lasance) and Constable Evie Cooper (Tuuli Narkle).

The members of the joint task force investigate Naval crimes around the Indo-Pacific Ocean in Australia while also contending with their personal relationships.

Here’s everything we know about NCIS: Sydney season 3.

Will there be a season 3 of NCIS: Sydney

CBS confirmed that NCIS: Sydney was renewed for a third season in a February 2025 press release.

“With two seasons under our belt, we are looking forward to upping the ante and bringing even more fun-filled, high-octane action from our incredible NCIS: Sydney team,” the show’s executive producer and showrunner, Morgan O’Neill, said in the press release.

The network also announced that filming for season 3 began on Feb. 24, 2025, in Sydney.

“With the success of season one, and season two rolling out around the world – we are so excited to be back with our team and shooting in some of our country’s most beautiful and breathtaking locations,” the head of scripted for the production company, Sara Richardson, added. “The entire cast and crew are extremely proud of NCIS: Sydney, and the unique Australian touch we have brought to such an established and universally loved franchise.”

What will NCIS: Sydney season 3 be about?

Season 3 of NCIS: Sydney will continue showing how the international taskforce works together to manage the heightened tensions among countries touching the Indo-Pacific Ocean.

The season 2 finale, which aired April 25, addressed the longtime question of who was responsible for several dramatic events, including who kidnapped Sgt. Dempsey’s kid.

“Season 2 ends with the reveal of who has been pulling the strings all along and it’s pretty shocking and it’s pretty personal, and it kind of threatens to tear the fabric of the team apart at its core,” O’Neill told TV Insider ahead of the finale.

He reflected on how the ending will affect season 3 by saying, “How that sets up for Season 3, God, who knows.”

Who is returning for NCIS: Sydney season 3?

The cast of NCIS: Sydney season 3 has not been officially revealed.

Both Swann and Lasance posted about the season 3 renewal news and expressed their excitement about working on a new season together.

“I’m so happy, so proud and just so excited to get stuck back in with my Aussie fam 💙,” Swann captioned the renewal announcement on Instagram.

Lasance also shared the news and wrote in part, “ITS FINALLY OFFICIAL – SEASON 3 NCIS:SYDNEY IS A GREEN LIGHT!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Still can’t believe I get to be part of this epic franchise. Feels so surreal, especially now moving into our THIRD season!”
